Luxembourg city gets 100% electric shared bike fleet
Luxembourg city will deploy a fleet of 800 full electric shared bicycles by the 1st of July 2018, one of the first cities in Europe with a 100% electric bike fleet on this scale.
The city launched a tender last year for operating a shared bike fleet for 10 years. It was commissioned to JCDecaux Luxembourg that operates the city’s VeloH! service since 2008.
The fleet will consist of 800 electric bicycles, spread over 80 stations. It will be all new material, gradually replacing the existing fleet of more than 700 classic ‘blue bikes’ in the city. Surrounding municipalities will have the opportunity to join the shared bicycle network of the Grand Duchy’s capital.
