New info screens for one third of all Belgian trains
Belgian public railway company SNCB/NMBS is speeding up installation of new information screens in its 350 Desiro trains, one-third of its fleet. The trains are mostly used on the suburban lines to the city. The new screens offer more information to the traveller, have a neat layout and provide information about connections and interruptions in real-time.
Services and facilities
They also provide an overview of several services and facilities in each station on the route. Commercial information for passengers, about special fares for instance, is available too. The new M7 double-deck trains are equipped with similar information screens but other trains do not have this kind of screens and will not be updated either.
Digital map of network
The new screen fits in the company’s ambition “to improve information for travellers continuously”. Other projects in the pipeline are a digital map of the whole train network on which you can follow the position of the trains in real-time, a new website and better real-time information about the timetables in stations, on the website and on the app.
