Uber buys shared-bicycle company Jump
Ride-hailing company Uber is taking over shared-bicycle company Jump Mobility, a start-up offering 12.000 electric shared-bicycles in 40 cities in the US. The free-floating bicycles can be left anywhere in the city and are unlocked by an app.
The take-over is no real surprise, since Uber already worked with Jump on a test project since February 2018, letting Uber app users rent bicycles too. Uber clients now have an extra option when they need alternative transport means.
