Chinese 4PX sets up base at Liège Airport
Chinese freight transporter and logistics company, Shenzhen 4PX, has created a Belgian subsidiary to accompany the arrival of Alibaba at Liège Airport. Specialized in transport and logistics, 4PX will reinforce the Chinese e-commerce ecosystem in Europe.
Two months after Cainiao Smart Logistics Network owner of Alibaba at 51% signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Liège Airport to set it up as its European bridgehead, Shenzhen 4PX sets up base at the said Airport. 4PX is one of Alibaba’s most important subcontractors.
4PX is a transport and logistic company specialized in transnational e-commerce based in Shenzhen, China. It currently operates in its hometown, Hong-Kong and Shanghai but also in the UK, Germany, Australia and the USA.
The company arrives in Belgium to reinforce the Chinese e-commerce ecosystem around Cainiao and Alibaba, both of which will invest in Liège to make it their European pole. Shenzhen 4PX has created a Belgian subsidiary, called 4PX Express BE, and invested 500.000 euro it in. At its head sits the Czech, Radoslav Palla, who’s also creating a distribution centre for Alibaba in his own country.
Alibaba in Liège
The Belgian subsidiary will offer “air transport management, aircraft unloading, customs clearing, warehousing, packaging and management of international land delivery services for goods sold in particular by Alibaba”, explains 4PX.
Alibaba, one of the world’s biggest e-commerce companies, is currently still exchanging information with Liège Airport regarding each other’s needs. The fact that Chinese 4PX has already set up base in the immediate surroundings of Liège Airport is a good marker on the progression of Alibaba and Cainiao’s Belgians projects.
