First public charging station in Brussels
On Tuesday, the first of 200 planned public charging stations was officially inaugurated by Brussels Alderwoman for Mobility, Els Ampe (Open Vld). The charging station is situated at the Eeuwfeestlaan, next to the Atomium.
Goal of 200 charging points
EV-Point was the first company to ask for a permit for charging stations along the road and also the first to install the first charging station on a public place. The company takes care of installation, management and funding. It has a kind of partnership with the city of Brussels, Brussels inhabitants and the professional world.
“People wanting a charging station in their street or neighbourhood, can just give us a call”, says Alex De Swaef of EV-Point. “The best way to realize our goal of 200 public charging stations in Brussels”, explains Ampe.
Today there are already 44 charging points for electric vehicles in public parkings, and 27 in parking lots of office buildings on Brusssel’s territory. “With these charging points in private parking lots and on the road we’re one step closer to the transition to electric cars and cleaner air in Brussels”, Ampe concludes.
