BNP Paribas Fortis introduces ‘green car and e-bike’ loan at 0,90%
For the period around the 97th Brussels Motor Show (19 to 27 January 2019), Belgian bank BNP Paribas Fortis introduces a special low rate loan at 0,90% dedicated for the purchase of environmentally friendly cars (CO2 rated A and B categories) and electric bicycles.
As was the case for this year’s Brussels Motor Show, BNP Paribas Fortis introduces a low rate loan for buying environmentally friendly cars with limited CO2 emissions. “This loan will be available from January 2nd to February 28th“, explains the bank.
A and B Ecolabel
This specific 0,90% rate will only be available for the purchase of new vehicles with the European Ecolabel A or B. That represents any hybrid and petrol car with a maximum emission of 130 g of CO2/km, and diesel cars emitting no more than 115 grams of CO2. For new cars exceeding the limit, the rate will start from 0,95%.
According to the bank’s statistics, the eco debtor’s profile is one of a 47 years old that borrows an average amount of 16.200 euro to buy a car. The monthly payment is 305 euro and the average credit duration is 54 months.
Contrary to past offers, the 2019’s special ‘green car’ loan rate will also be applied to electric bicycle purchases. “With this e-bike loan, it is possible to finance any type of electric bicycle and to borrow at least 1.250 euro and up to 110% of the total price (VAT included), continues BNP Paribas Fortis.
As for now, the bank’s data show that 80% of clients applying for an e-bike loan live in the north of Belgium. BNP Paribas Fortis desires to “support customers in the transition to greener energy solutions by making sure finance and investment activities are in line with the International Energy Agency’s (IEA) goal of maintaining the global warming below 2 °C.”
