Qbuzz orders 160 e-buses for Groningen and Drenthe
Qbuzz, the bus company in the Dutch provinces of Groningen en Drenthe, is planning to buy 160 electric buses. Supplier of the buses are bus manufacturers Ebusco and VDL, and their French competitor, Heuliez. The order represents 100 million euro. Beside those, Qbuzz also wants to run 22 hydrogen buses in the future.
Largest fleet in Europe
CEO Gerrit Spijksma says the new buses will be used at the start of the new concession, mid-December. It will probably be the largest fleet of electric buses in Europe. Today, Amsterdam and Schiphol still are forerunners, with about 100 electric buses.
Ebusco in Deurne (The Netherlands) will deliver 60 electric buses for local transport. The buses have a 400 km range. The 45 buses Qbuzz ordered with VDL and the 55 coming from France, are 18-metre-long city buses.
