New ‘Flux’ app for more fluent traffic in Zeebrugge
On Thursday, a new app was officially introduced in the harbour of Zeebrugge. ‘Flux’, as the app is called, is meant to make truck traffic in the harbour and on international roads safer and more fluent. The app can be downloaded for free.
The Zeebrugge harbour authorities developed the app together with smart mobility company Be-Mobile. Flux is supposed to save time and money for terminals, harbour companies and truck drivers.
Sometimes it is difficult and time-consuming for truck drivers to find out where exactly and at which terminal they have to be. Thanks to the app they immediately know their precise route to the terminal.
The app also provides information about the situation in the harbour, in case of an accident it can give a warning. It informs drivers about construction works on the road or speed limits on national or international roads. Part of it’s goal is to keep truck traffic from the town’s centres in the neighbourhood.
People using the app have to enter their truck’s dimensions and weight and possible dangerous substances they’re transporting. All this information is taken into account when guiding the truck to the right destination. It also can be useful in case of emergencies.
