Police stops sleeping Tesla-driver on autopilot
Saturday night, the Dutch police have caught a driver of a self-driving Tesla because the man had fallen asleep behind the steering wheel while on Autopilot. The Model X was driving behind a truck on the A27 nearby Eemnes (The Netherlands) when the police discovered something was wrong.
The man had his hands on the steering wheel, but he seemed unconscious or asleep. As long as the driver keeps his hand on the steering wheel, the Tesla Autopilot won’t abort.
So, the police sounded the siren to wake up the driver. After a breath test, the 50-year-old man from Meppe proved to have 0,77 percent of alcohol in his blood, or one and a half times as much as allowed. The police have suspended the man’s driver’s license.
