UHasselt develops driver awareness technology

Besides using data collected by sensors, the test project will take surveys about driver risk perception. Smartphone data will also be used. “Your phone can already register how your sleep was and measure your physical activity. This information can be equally useful for your car by letting it know what state its driver is in,” says Brijs.
“We will assemble all this information to teach us which situations are difficult for drivers. On this basis, we will develop the technology and offer it to the automotive industry to be used in cars. We will also use the information for training purposes,” concludes Brijs.
