Dutch EVBox and Belgian Smappee partner for smart charging solution
The world’s leading manufacturer of charging stations for electric cars is partnering with Belgian company Smappee. They will offer a ‘smart charging’ solution that will manage the charging depending on the needs and network availability.
With already more than 75.000 charging points in around 55 countries, Dutch EVBox – part of Engie since 2017 – is the world’s leader in its field. Since July 1st, it has partnered with Belgian company Smappee. “It was already possible to set a maximum power on our charging stations or to balance the load, but the solution brought by Smappee will allow us to go to the next level,” reads a recent EVBox press release.
Intelligent power distribution
“An example? When people get home, they often plug their car in right away. But, then, they might turn their oven on or use other electrical devices. This might overload their electrical installation. Our new solution will manage the amount of electricity brought to the charging point depending on the needs,” explains Delphine Van Hoecke, communication manager at Smappee.
This solution can be added to any electrical system that includes a charging point, whether it is for a company or private use. For sites with more than one station, the solution offers dynamic management. It includes the possibility to set preferences and priorities depending on user constraints.
Smappee’s Smart Charging + is designed for solar panels equipped houses. The solution will make sure to connect the solar electricity production to the electric car and manage the battery charging. This ensures owners to drive on fully sustainable energy.
Clients can also see in real time their electrical system’s consumption through a free app. It also informs the driver about its electric car’s state of charge.
