VDL Nedcar gradually dismisses 700 temporary jobs
The automotive company, VDL dcar, is suffering from the shrinking automotive industry. The company that only works for BMW is forced to drop 700 temporary jobs. The gradual dismissal will start in the week of November 4th and will stop by the end of this year. The 400 temporary employees left will keep on working in the plant in Born (Limburg, Belgium).
The automotive sector, and the German one, in particular, is going through difficult times. Reasons for it are the trade wars, the hesitating customers, the economic uncertainty, the transition to electrification, and the Brexit.
Sales figures of the new BMW X1 and some models of the Mini are going down, and the main explanations for it, according to the company, are the more strict emission standards, and the trade war between the US and China.
