Alphabet offers fixed rate for charging cars in the Netherlands
Together with Eneco eMobility, Alphabet (owned by BMW) is the first leasing company to offer a fixed rate for recharging an electric car regardless of where the car is charged.
Electric charging at public charging stations is often complex. Although in recent times, more and more charging stations are compatible with the chargers of another provider, the rates are far from being that.
Moreover, there is no rate per kWh indicated on the charging station (as is mandatory on a regular fuel pump). For example, the starting rates at the various charging stations in the Netherlands can vary from 12 cents to over 2 euros.
Also, in many cases, additional transaction costs are charged, such as roaming and handling costs, which can amount to more than 1.00 euro per kWh. On top of that, there is a big difference in price per kWh between slow and fast charging.
Eneco eMobility and Alphabet have a solution
Alphabet says that “no additional costs are charged”, which puts an end to the jungle of different rates. From now on, electric charging can be transparent and inexpensive.
With the fixed tariff of 0,275 euros/kWh that Alphabet offers, this lack of clarity is a thing of the past. The charging rate applies to all charging locations in the Netherlands, including public and fast charging points at home and abroad.
Fixed price per loading session already exists
Other providers previously offered a fixed rate per charging session, regardless of the number of kWh charged. This was the case, for example, with Ionity, where people pay eight euros per charge session. This formula is particularly interesting for EV drivers with a very large battery capacity in their vehicle, mostly a Tesla, Audi, or Jaguar at the moment.
Alphabet and Eneco
Eneco eMobility and Alphabet are working together on services to facilitate and stimulate the EV market. The partnership has existed since 2012 and represents smart and transparent solutions for charging at home, on the road, and in the office.
For Alphabet, it is important that this is done in a sustainable, innovative, and cost-efficient way. With Eneco, the lease driver is assured of 100% sustainable power from solar and wind energy.
