Ford chooses TomTom as new traffic message partner
Ford chooses location technology specialist TomTom to team up with. For its newest navigation and infotainment system SYNC, Ford will use real-time traffic information for worldwide use from TomTom.
TomTom signed a worldwide agreement, lasting several years. The first Ford cars to use the info will be the recently introduced, brand new 2021 F-150 pickup and the fully electric Mustang Mach-E. They are both equipped with the next generation SYNC technology software.
TomTom Traffic will help Ford drivers with real-time traffic information to shorten travel time. The traffic service processes 70 million driving hours every day. By interpreting these big data every 30 seconds, TomTom can provide trustworthy traffic forecasts.
“Car manufacturers choose TomTom Traffic because of the accuracy and the reliability, and also because the system is continuously up to date,” says Antione Saucier, Director of TomTom Automotive.
“Ford’s decision to include TomTom Traffic in its latest SYNC connected vehicle technology is the next step in reaching our ultimate goal: a world without congestion or traffic jams.”
The real-time traffic service from TomTom is available in 79 countries throughout the world. It is supported by more than 600 million connected devices.
The service is used by a growing number of car manufacturers, app developers, and other companies in an increasing lot of mobility applications.
