Volvo Car Belux MD Wim Maes moves to Russia
Wim Maes, the current managing director of Volvo car Belux, will be assuming the same function as MD at Volvo Cars Russia as of the 1st of November.
Wim Maes became the Belux MD in April 2013. “I’m sure that Volvo is now well-positioned to cope with the challenges of the future,” he declared. “I’m sure the brand will reinforce its leading position concerning safety, innovation, and electrification.”
Wim Maes has been working for Volvo for some 30 years now. Fifteen of them were in foreign countries; the other half in his home turf. In the last seven years, he has been working on the transformation of the company in Belgium, rearranging the distribution network, and repositioning the brand.
In fact, Wim Maes was scheduled to leave earlier, in June already, but the corona crisis threw a spanner in the works. Now he will be assuming his new function from the first of November onward.
“It’s with great pleasure that I accept this new challenge. I’m a strong believer in the core values of the Volvo brand: quality, safety, and environmental respect. I’m convinced that we can offer something unique in the premium segment.”
His successor in Belgium is not known yet. Her/his name will be communicated as soon as possible, probably within a few weeks.
