Elfi Janssens is new MD of Volvo Car Belux
From the 1st of December, Volvo Belux will have a new Managing Director. Elfi Janssens will succeed Wim Maes, who left his Belgian position to become MD of Volvo Russia. We messaged about his departure in mid-September.
Elfi Janssens (54) studied applied economics at the University of Antwerp. She started her professional career in 1990 and occupied different sales functions. She has two children.
Before the millennium turn, she started working at Dyson, the well-known British manufacturer of hoovering apparel and other household appliances, led by its willful founder James Dyson, who patented more than 130 inventions. Dyson even wanted to start building cars, but he stopped trying after having spent half a billion.
Elfi Janssens introduced Dyson on the market in Belgium and Luxembourg from scratch and became MD of the Belux branch. Later she became responsible for the brand in the whole Benelux area.
Two and a half years ago, Janssens changed air and went to Bernina, the famous Swiss manufacturer of quality sewing machines, where she was MD for the Benelux.
And starting next month, she is the new MD of Volvo Belux, starting in quite a difficult period, Europe being hit by the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic and Belgium in a semi-lockdown.
Nevertheless, Janssens is determined which way her new company has to go. “In a fast-changing world, the consumer and client of the car industry now demands a whole variety of mobility solutions,” Janssens explains.
“Volvo’s strategy has taken all this into account. I look forward to tackling all the problems and find the appropriate solutions with my whole team and all our Volvo ambassadors,” she adds.
