Volkswagen has opened the pre-sales for its electric hot hatch, the ID.3 GTX. Two variants are on offer, the GTX and GTX Performance, with prices starting from €49,990. The official WLTP range has also been determined, with this new variant achieving over 600 km, even with the more powerful motor.
Volkswagen first announced the ID.3 GTX back in March 2024, when it was presented simultaneously with the ID.7 and ID. Buzz GTX brings the electric GTI equivalent to the entire electric range. The ID.3 GTX shares its underpinnings with the Cupra Born VZ, also announced earlier this year.
Two variants, the same larger battery
Two variants of the ID.3 GTX are available: the regular one, with a 210 kW (286 hp) motor on the rear axle, and the GTX Performance, which cranks up the power to 240 kW (326 hp) from the same drive unit. Performance is significantly better than the standard ID.3, with a 0-100 km/hour in 5.7 seconds (for the GTX Performance) and a raised top speed of 200 km/hour.
A new 79 kWh (usable) lithium-ion battery provides the power, which not only increases range to up to 603 km (compared to 556 km for the ID.3 Pro S, the previous top-of-the-line model) but also allows for faster charging up to 185 kW, which sees it go from 10 to 80 percent in 26 minutes.
Other changes include a modified Sport DCC adaptive chassis with more muscular stabilizers, a GTX-specific front bumper with pointy daytime running lights, 20-inch Skagen GTX wheels, microfiber sports seats, and red accents throughout the interior.
From €49,990 in Belgium
The Volkswagen ID.3 GTX is now available to configure and order, with a starting price of €49,990 in Belgium. The ID.3 GTX Performance costs €54,490 and is standard with the Business package.
