Driveco, a French operator of charging stations for electric vehicles, wants to install 1,500 charging stations in Belgium by 2030 and will allocate 15 million euros for this purpose. The company is already present in Belgium, with 70 charging stations in fifteen different stations, but the goal is to increase that number considerably in the coming years.
Driveco aims to have 1,000 charging stations in Belgium by 2026, in 210 different charging stations. By 2030, there should be 1,500 charging stations at 260 locations, mainly in Wallonia, where the number of charging stations is still limited.
Supermarkets and shopping centers
However, there is still a significant shortage of charging stations in Belgium because the number of electric cars will grow significantly – from 200,000 to two million – in the coming years.
The company wants to provide Belgian companies with regular charging stations with a capacity of 11 to 22 kilowatts. About seven out of ten posts will be fast chargers. They will be installed in supermarkets, shopping centers, and (road) restaurant parking lots.
Focus on Belgium
Driveco has been around for almost 15 years. The company mainly focuses on Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland. The first Driveco charging stations were opened last week at the car rental company Sixt’s parking lot at Zaventem airport. Later, they will also follow at Ibis hotels in our country and branches of the kitchen chain Ixina.
