Eurostar to reconnect Amsterdam with London directly from 2025

From the beginning of next year, anyone wishing to travel from Amsterdam to London by Eurostar will be able to do so again without changing trains in Brussels. The renovation of the terminal in Amsterdam Central will be largely completed by then, says the Dutch railroad company NS.

Due to works on the Amsterdam station, passport control can currently not be carried out locally. That takes place in Brussels South. However, from London, there is still a direct connection by high-speed train to Amsterdam.

Renovation completed in December

Eurostar was very concerned about the progress of the renovation of Amsterdam Central. Top woman Gwendoline Cazenave even threatened recently to stop running trains from Amsterdam if the terminal was not completed on time.

However, according to an NS spokesperson, work in Amsterdam is on schedule, and the terminal will be completed on time in December.

Still concerns about the length of the platforms

Dutch rail passengers to London increased by 38% last year. Once the terminal in Amsterdam is completed, the number of travelers is expected to grow even further. Last year, 4,2 million passengers traveled by Eurostar between the Netherlands and France, the United Kingdom, and Belgium.

Eurostar chief Cazenave also expressed concern about the length of the platforms in Amsterdam. These are 200 meters long, while Eurostar trains are 400 meters long, which affects London and the train to Paris.
