Harley-Davidson’s electric bike subsidiary LiveWire has launched a new variant of its S2 model: the Alpinista. This new all-around electric bike combines the cruising qualities of the related Del Mar and Mulholland models with a slightly more sporty approach without touching the technical side.
LiveWire started as an electric model range part of the Harley-Davidson brand, but to differentiate itself from the more ‘conservative’ American motorcycle brand, the more eco-friendly bikes have spun off as a separate brand.
After the big and expensive One launch model, LiveWire expanded its range to include a more affordable S2 range and developed a maxi-scooter with specialist Kymco.
Sporty all-rounder
Now, a third variant of the LiveWire S2 has been presented after the Del Mar and the Mulholland: the S2 Alpinista. It is the most sporty variant of the three, featuring smaller 17-inch wheels, which also lower the seat height by 28 mm. A 6-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) from Bosch provides in-corner ABS and traction control, which can be configured through six different drive modes, of which two can be programmed according to the rider’s wishes.

The LiveWire S2 Alpinista’s technical base stays identical to the Del Mar and Mulholland models: an 84-hp and 263-Nm electric motor powers the rear wheel, allowing the 197-kg electric bike to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/u in precisely 3 seconds. The top speed is limited to 158.5 km/h.
From just under €20,000
A 10.5 kWh battery provides the necessary energy, giving the LiveWire S2 Alpinista a combined range of 144 km. The manufacturer also claims a 194 km range in urban traffic and 115 km on the highway. Charging is limited to 7 kW AC, with no DC fast-charging available. Pricing starts at €19,148 in the Netherlands.
