Dutch catering wholesale company Bidfood Netherlands, part of South African holding Bidcorp, is doubling its electric truck fleet with an order of 25 additional Renault Trucks E-Tech vehicles. This brings the total to 50 zero-emission trucks in its fleet. Bidfood has been running Renault Trucks E-Tech electric trucks since 2021.
According to the manufacturer, the 25 Renault Trucks E-Tech electric trucks that Bidfood Netherlands has been using since 2021 for food delivery to restaurants and other hospitality companies have already covered over 220,000 km and saved over 230 tonnes in CO2 emissions.
Continued cooperation
“These tangible results show that electromobility is not a distant ambition but an operational and effective reality. It allows us to reduce our environmental footprint while meeting our customers’ growing expectations for sustainability,” says Dick Slootweg, Managing Director of Bidfood Netherlands.
“For three years, we have worked closely with Bidfood to integrate electric vehicles into their fleet and address the operational challenges of their logistics,” explains Jérôme Berthelet, Managing Director of Renault Trucks Netherlands. “This collaboration has enabled us to develop customized solutions aligned with their constraints and decarbonization ambitions.”

2,000th Renault Trucks E-Tech truck in Blainville-sur-Orne
To increase this impact, Bidfood ordered 25 additional units, marking the 2,000th electric truck that Renault Trucks produced at its Blainville-sur-Orne factory in December 2024. The rest of the newly ordered e-trucks will be delivered to Bidfood Netherlands by the end of Q1 2025.
The Blainville-sur-Orne site was the first European Renault Trucks plant to produce electric trucks in series, more specifically the Renault Trucks E-Tech D and D Wide models. These medium-duty electric trucks are produced alongside diesel trucks on the same production lines. They are designed for urban and suburban (i.e., short—to medium-range) transport.
600-km Renault Trucks E-Tech T coming later this year
In the second half of 2025, Renault Trucks is opening the order books for a new long-range version of the E-Tech T electric heavy-duty truck, with a range of up to 600 km on a single charge. This model will be produced by the Bourg-en-Bresse plant, which also produces Renault Trucks’ other high-end electric vehicles.
