DB Schenker France expands electric fleet with 66 Renault E-Tech trucks

DB Schenker France, the French branch of the German logistics multinational, is expanding its electric truck fleet with 66 additional Renault Trucks E-Tech models that will join the 69 electric vehicles already in circulation. By 2040, DB Schenker France wants to achieve carbon neutrality.

After a large order of 53 electric trucks at the end of 2023, DB Schenker France has broken its own record with a new order of 66 Renault Trucks E-Tech electric trucks. This will bring the fleet’s total amount of electric vehicles to 135, which perform urban, peri-urban, and regional deliveries.

Renault Trucks E-Tech D box trucks and T tractors

The bulk of the order consists of Renault Trucks E-Tech D electric carriers. These 16-ton box trucks offer a payload of 8.75 tons and feature a range of up to 560 km, depending on the battery configuration, load, and route. Sixty of these vehicles will join the DB Schenker France fleet in the coming months.

For the first time, DB Schenker France has ordered six Renault Trucks E-Tech T 44-ton electric tractors /Renault Trucks

In addition to the smaller Renault Trucks E-Tech D box trucks, the logistics specialist ordered six Renault Trucks E-Tech T electric tractors for the first time. This is a full-size 44-ton truck with an operating range of around 300 km, although a 600-km ‘Long Range’ variant is coming in the second half of 2025.

Carbon neutrality by 2040

DB Schenker France’s new electric trucks were purchased with the help of the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (Ademe), with the company’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2040.

To achieve this, its depots are also being fitted with solar panels and electric car and truck chargers while local energy storage systems are being studied. Combustion-powered trucks running on hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO) and biogas are also part of the efforts to lower CO2 emissions.

DB Schenker France is not the only multinational transport and logistics branch that has introduced electric Renault Trucks into its fleet. In 2024, DB Schenker Benelux also deployed four electric Renault Trucks E-Tech D vehicles for last-mile delivery from its terminals in Mechelen and Zwevegem in Belgium.
