Fast charging specialist Electra and mobility company Bolt are entering into a strategic partnership to strengthen the transition to electric driving. The deal will give Bolt partner drivers access to the largest fast-charging network in Belgium at preferential rates.
Through the partnership, which was previously launched in France, the two companies aim to accelerate the transition to electric driving and sustainable mobility in Belgium as well.
Competitive price of €0.64/kWh
Specifically, Bolt partner drivers will receive a 10% discount on the standard Electra price of €0.64/kWh at 400 kW charging stations with charging times between 15 and 20 minutes. In addition, the partnership starts with a two-month discount, fixed at €0.29/kWh, funded by Bolt to give their partner drivers an interesting entry price.
The partnership with Electra is part of a broader Bolt initiative to help drivers switch to EVs and increase their platform share. Currently, 8% of the actively driving cars on Bolt in Brussels are electric, a percentage the Estonian company aims to double by the end of 2025.
Last month in Brussels, Bolt also launched Electric Comfort: a new all-electric category allowing users to travel in high-quality EVs more favorably than the Premium category.
87 ultrafast Electra charging stations in Belgium
The number of public charging stations in Belgium increased by almost half last year to more than 22,000. Of the 22,037 public charging stations, 17,335 are in Flanders. That is well ahead of Wallonia (2,799) and Brussels (1,903). For that matter, 1,886 of the charging stations in Belgium are fast charging stations.
Of these, 87 are ultrafast operated by Electra, which can be reserved half an hour in advance. Electra is present not only in Belgium, where it works with supermarket chain Delhaize, among others, but also in Luxembourg, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, and Austria. The charging station company, with Dutch pension fund PGGM as its largest shareholder, is working to develop a park of 15,000 fast charging stations that will be available by 2030.
