Brussels Airlines posts new record profit

Brussels Airlines posted another record profit last year thanks to a “very successful” second half of the year. Adjusted operating profit (ebit) went up 11% to 59 million euros, a new record. The airline also expects “significant growth” for this year.

“During the first half of the year we faced some challenges, which did not allow us to operate our flights as planned”, says Finance Director Nina Öwerdieck. For example, there were several strike days.

Fewer flights, more available aircraft

“However, the second half of the year was very successful,” even though Brussels Airlines ultimately operated 2% fewer flights in 2024 than a year earlier. Still, they did increase the number of available aircraft by 1% due to the deployment of an Airbus 330, among other things.

In the end, Brussels Airlines clocked in at a stable turnover of 1.54 billion euros, a new record for an operating profit of 59 million euros.

Reliable airline

The airline, part of the German Lufthansa Group, carried nearly 8.4 million passengers (+1%) and was one of the most reliable airlines in Europe, ranking fourth among network carriers, according to Cirium data.

According to AirHelp, an international company that helps passengers with compensation claims against airlines, Brussels Airlines was even the best all-around airline in the world last year.

The profit margin is also expected to increase for 2025, in part because two aircraft will be included in its own fleet. Plans are also underway to renovate THE LOFT, the lounge at Brussels Airport, and work is underway on new cabins for long-haul flights to be rolled out from 2027.

Next year, Brussels Airlines will also celebrate the 100th anniversary of flights between Belgium and the African continent.
