Traxio: ‘New Speed pedelecs remain in the lead’

A total of 2,310 new speed pedelecs (+were registered in the first two months of 2025. That is an increase of 6.5% compared to the same period in 2024, when 2,169 units were registered.

This increase is largely due to the number of leasing contracts, which have increased by 26.6% compared to 2024 – from 1,199 units in 2024 to 1,518 in 2025 – and now represent no less than 65.7% of the new market. The segment of private registrations of new speed pedelecs has fallen by 12.4%, from 550 to 482 units.

‘Growing interest in fast electric mobility’

At the same time, the second-hand market also continues to do well. In the first two months of 2025, 1,188 second-hand speed pedelecs were registered – mostly by private individuals (92.8% of the market) – an increase of 9.9% (107 units) compared to the same period in 2024, and even +19% compared to 2023.

Looking at the total number of registrations, the share of the second-hand market increased slightly from 33.3% to 34.0% between 2023 and 2024.

“The growth of both new and second-hand speed pedelecs testifies to the growing interest in fast electric mobility,” concludes Filip Rylant, spokesperson for Mobility Federation Traxio.
