Poppy Mobility, D’Ieteren’s provider of shared mobility services in Antwerp, Brussels, and Belgian airports, plans to install smoke detectors in its cars to combat cigarette smell.
Poppy wants to prevent smoking in its cars. The company’s goal is clear: to keep their fleet fresh and clean for everyone. “When smoke is detected, the system will automatically inform our cleaning team, and the offender will be charged a minimum cleaning fee of 75 euros,” explains Pierre de Schaetzen, Poppy’s Chief Marketing Officer.
Cigarette smoke complaints
About 5% of all journeys result in complaints about cigarette smoke, but the problem may be even more significant because not everyone reports the discomfort. De Schaetzen hopes that the results will be noticeable soon.
To support the message, Poppy recently launched a video.
Poppy provides shared mobility services in Antwerp, Brussels, and Belgian airports. Its fleet consists of 2,400 red vehicles, ranging from cars to vans. The offer includes several electric models or gasoline city vehicles and luxury cars.
Users can download the Poppy app to book and drive a vehicle. The system charges per kilometer, minute, hour, or day. Fuel, charging, and parking are included in this price.
