EnergyVision offers its Belgian clients free smart wallbox at home

Belgian startup energy provider EnergyVision launches a new campaign to attract new clients by offering a free wallbox installation at home, worth 2,000 to 2,500 euros, for a minimal subscription price of €10 monthly.

In addition, the energy company also launches a ‘happy hour’ at its public charging points on sunny days with overproduction, with half-price rates or even a free charge. Customers will be notified of this when available.

Cheapest energy contract on the market

In its conquest of assuring a place within an aggressive energy market with bigger players, the young Belgian company launched one year ago what it calls “the cheapest energy contract on the market.”

In this contract, solar energy is fixed for ten years at an affordable price, and solar panels are installed free of charge. In the meantime, the energy company expanded its offer, so that one year later, 72,165 connection points have already been contracted.

Charging when the sun shines abundantly

“With these new services, we want to make electric driving a lot cheaper and more accessible to everyone,” says Maarten Michielssens, CEO of EnergyVision. Like the solar panels, the installation of the smart wallbox is entirely free.

The smart wallbox can modulate charging when the sun’s power is abundant or prices on the energy market are low. However, the energy company does charge a limited subscription fee. Energy customers who already have EnergyVision solar panels pay 10 euros per month.

Customers without solar panels pay 30 euros per month. If you want to change to another energy provider, the client can buy the wallbox or keep using it at a rental fee of €30 monthly, the company assures.

Our customers get 24/7 service in return for that limited monthly cost. Their free home charging point now runs on our mobility platform, so we monitor it around the clock,” says Maarten Michielssens.

“Does your home charging point malfunction? Then we solve the problem. Does it break down? Then we will provide a new one. Finally, you also get a free charging card, which you can use to charge throughout Europe.”

Lowest price in the market

“Within our network, we guarantee the lowest price in the market with this charge card, both for slow and fast charging: with our charge card, you can charge ultrafast for a maximum of 0.35 EUR/kWh. This way you can charge without worries and save hundreds of euros per year on your bill.”

EnergyVision also has a network of (semi-)public fast chargers operating in cities like Ghent, Antwerp, Brussels, and Durbuy. Now, the company stunts with extra low or even free charging when there is overproduction of electricity.

If there is a surplus of solar energy, anyone with an EnergyVision (free) charging card can benefit from a ‘happy hour’. Instead of injecting the excess energy generated into the grid and paying a negative price, EnergyVision will use the surplus to significantly reduce the tariffs at the (semi)public charging points.

In this way, customers can benefit from the sun: sometimes, they will pay only half of it (in particular, distribution costs and excise duties). At other times, a public charging session will even be completely free,” the company states

Notifying when charging is free

The power from our charging points comes directly from our solar panels, which are installed throughout the country. As a result, we can offer public charging on sunny days a lot cheaper or even completely free of charge,” Michielssens explains.

“By notifying our charge card holders and getting them to agree to the proposed lower price, we are trying to initiate a change in mentality: charge, if possible, especially when the sun is shining. This is how you deal sustainably with sustainable energy. This is how we show: solar energy is never worthless, but on the contrary, it is very valuable.”
