Mercedes-Benz Trucks Remote 3.0 app adds real-time vehicle data

Daimler Truck has launched the new Mercedes-Benz Trucks Remote 3.0 app, which can now be used with the electric eActros 600 and with the Actros L and Arocs from this summer. The updated app adds more remote real-time vehicle data monitoring, such as charge level, tyre pressure, and more, but a mobile data connection is needed.

As has become commonplace with passenger cars today, Mercedes-Benz Trucks is adding remote vehicle monitoring app support for its latest models. The eActros 600, Actros L, and Arocs models fitted with the Multimedia Cockpit Interactive 2 and the Truck Data Centre 8 will be able to connect with the Remote 3.0 app if they have an active TruckLive contract that enables a mobile data connection.

Remote fuel or charging info

The Mercedes-Benz Trucks Remote 3.0 app shows general status information like kilometer reading, compressed-air supply, tire pressure, and, in the future, fuel and AdBlue fill levels for trucks with combustion drivetrains. In the battery-electric eActros 600, the battery level, range, charge level, and the time remaining until the desired target charge level is reached are also displayed.

If any status changes (like a completed charge) or issues are detected, the app will send a push notification to the user. Other features include locking doors and closing windows remotely, and more functions will be added in the summer of 2025.

Connecting the truck to the app is quite simple: a QR code generated by the vehicle’s Multimedia Cockpit can be used, saving time compared to entering passwords. The app is available for iPhone ( iOS 15 and younger) and Android (from Android 9) smartphones.

More software-defined vehicles coming

Daimler Truck is moving forward with more software-defined vehicles and connectivity functions in its trucks. The German manufacturer signed a binding agreement with Volvo Group to develop a software-defined vehicle platform that will allow vehicles to evolve through updates during their lifecycle. The company’s name is expected to be announced soon.
