Honda’s new last-mile solution is a pedal-assist quadricycle

Honda is set to launch its Fastport fleet-as-a-service company at Eurobike in Frankfurt later this week. The micromobility venture will sell the Fastport eQuad, a pedal-assist electric quadricycle designed for last-mile urban deliveries, which is built in the US and is specifically designed for North America and Europe.

Honda already manufactures cars, motorbikes, and engines for a wide range of applications, from power generators to boats. Now, the Japanese manufacturer is expanding into yet another market.

Honda has unveiled Fastport, a new ‘fleet-as-a-service’ (FaaS) company, which will make its debut at Eurobike 2025 in Frankfurt, the annual international trade show for the bike and eco-mobility industries.

360-degree service, including the cargo boxes

Fastport will offer a range of last-mile delivery solutions on its FaaS platform, which includes swappable batteries and a software-defined architecture, as well as cargo containers and service plans. The new company is already in contact with “major logistics and delivery companies in North America and Europe” for pilot programs ahead of production.

Cargo bike on steroids

The first vehicle that Fastport will offer is the eQuad. It’s a pedal-assisted electric quadricycle, essentially a four-wheeled cargo bike. The eQuad is designed to fit in bike lanes and provides a respective payload of 145 to 295 kilograms for the Small Box and Large Box versions.

With a top speed of 20 km/hour and a range of up to 37 km, it is genuinely designed for urban environments. Honda promises rider comfort thanks to a canopy with UV coating, a ventilation fan, and a full-frontal enclosure, as well as a smooth ride, even on uneven surfaces.

Built in the US

“The Fastport team has worked tirelessly to create the Fastport eQuad, a zero-emission alternative to delivery vans that solves the challenge of last-mile urban logistics by meeting the needs of urban residents expecting on-demand deliveries of packages, groceries, and other items,” said Jose Wyszogrod, general manager and founding member of Fastport.

The Honda Fastport eQuad is set to enter production later this year at Honda’s Performance Manufacturing Center in Ohio, US. This factory specializes in small-scale production and previously built the NSX supercar. Currently, the hydrogen-powered C-RV e: FCEV also rolls off the line in Ohio.
