Electric motorbike pioneer Zero Motorcycles moves to Europe

Pioneering electric motorcycle manufacturer Zero Motorcycles is relocating its administrative headquarters from the United States to the Netherlands. The Netherlands will thus become the company’s global headquarters. However, the US locations will continue to play an important role.

Zero Motorcycles officially justified the move by stating that Europe has become the most important growth engine. The announcement refers to a ‘European boost’.

Europe is the primary driver of growth

“The Netherlands headquarters will bring global teams together into one central hub in the heart of Zero’s fastest-growing EV market,” the company wrote. “Europe has emerged as Zero’s primary driver of growth. The new Global Headquarters will build on the strong performance and momentum Zero has already established in the European market.”

The move is intended to enable “greater flexibility, more precise implementation, and improved collaboration with key partners worldwide.” Zero is “uniquely positioned with strong global distribution, deep technical expertise, and backed by its latest round of funding.”

Zero’s main shareholder has committed $50 million in new funding to drive the transformation forward, according to the company, also to “strengthen long-term confidence in the company’s strategy and market leadership.”

Sales coordination in North Holland…

Zero Motorcycles will use its existing European headquarters in Noord-Scharwoude, located in the province of North Holland, north of Amsterdam, as its new headquarters.

However, only administrative and sales teams from the previous headquarters in Scott’s Valley, California, will relocate to the Netherlands, or ‘non-technical initiatives and departments,’ as it is officially referred to.

…Technical development remains in the US

Technical development will remain in the United States. “Scott’s Valley remains Zero’s long-term innovation hub for research and development and engineering, driving the design and development of the industry’s most advanced electric two-wheelers and powertrains from the Bay Area,” the company emphasized.

The company is not abandoning the US as a sales market, despite its new focus on Europe and the impact of US customs policy. “Building on the momentum of the XB and XE launches, the company will continue investing in the people needed to win in the US together with its dealer partners,” Zero announced. The XB and XE models are electric motorcycles with a strong emphasis on off-road capabilities.

“Zero has led the electric motorcycle category for nearly two decades,” said Sam Paschel, CEO of Zero Motorcycles. “With Europe setting the pace for EV adoption, moving key headquarters functions into the Netherlands allows us to respond faster to customer needs and strengthen our global operations. This is about focus, discipline, and ensuring we lead the transformation of the powersports industry.”
