Antwerp N-VA politician Koen Kennis has been appointed as chairman of Lantis, the developer of the Oosterweel connection. Kennis has served as a Lantis director for 15 years. He succeeds his party colleague Marc Descheemaecker. “His commitment to the organisation and his years of experience in mobility issues made him an easy choice for this role.”
Lantis is short for Leefbaar Antwerpen door Innovatie en Samenwerken (Livable Antwerp through Innovation and Collaboration). In addition to the Oosterweel connection, Lantis is also responsible for the construction of park-and-ride sites, the implementation of a cycling network, and the creation of a more sustainable and livable mobility landscape in the region, such as the Ringparken.
Koen Kennis has also served on the boards of De Lijn, Eandis, Integan, Publi-T, the Port of Antwerp, and Proximus, among others. He is also the first alderman for the N-VA in Antwerp, responsible for finance, mobility, heritage, tourism, and small businesses.
