Porsche Macan EV gets shot of power with GTS badge

The GTS name goes electric as Porsche adds more power and precision to its best-selling EV SUV. The dual-motor GTS delivers 571 hp and almost 1,000 Nm of torque, and sharper dynamics, making Porsche’s electric SUV the sportiest Macan yet.

The Macan GTS EV is clearly positioned as a high-performance variant within the Macan EV lineup, which already includes the Macan 4, Macan 4S, and Macan Turbo Electric. The Macan GTS EV starts at €104,200 in Germany, just below the existing Macan Turbo EV. For Belgium, no price is published, but with the Turbo EV listed at €121,000, you can get an idea of the cost.

Most powerful rear-axle motor

Like the Macan Turbo, the Macan GTS features the most powerful rear-axle electric motor in the model series. It provides 380 kW (516 hp) in normal mode; with overboost (Launch Control) the combined system delivers 420 kW (571 hp) and 955 Nm of torque. This gives the Macan its ‘wings’, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 13.3 seconds. Top speed is limited to 250 km/h.

The new Porsche Macan GTS Electric takes the dynamic edge of the brand’s mid-size SUV and sharpens it further. Sitting 10 millimetres lower than the standard Macan Electric, the GTS rides on model-specific sports air suspension tuned for agility and control.

A rear-biased 48:52 weight distribution and an electronically controlled rear differential lock complete the performance-focused setup, promising the poise and balance drivers expect from the GTS badge.

Sporty luxury

Visually, the GTS features black exterior details on the front apron, side skirts, and diffuser, which contrast with the bodywork. Tinted Matrix LED headlights and 21-inch alloy wheels (22-inch optional) accentuate its athletic stance. Porsche also introduces new colour options, including Crayon, Carmine Red, and Lugano Blue, the latter of which appears on a Macan for the first time.

Inside, the focus remains on sporty luxury. The cabin features Race-Tex microfibre upholstery, a material familiar from Porsche’s GT models. At the same time, buyers can now opt for a color-matched interior/exterior package, which is a first for the Macan Electric. The standard Sport Chrono Package includes a dedicated “Track” mode, allowing the SUV to sustain high-performance driving on demand.

Without compromise

Despite its punchy character, the Macan GTS Electric remains efficient for its class. Preliminary WLTP figures indicate energy consumption between 18.5 and 20.5 kWh/100 km, with zero CO₂ emissions, demonstrating that Porsche’s latest GTS delivers its thrills without compromise.

Porsche backs the Macan GTS’s performance credentials with equally strong electric hardware. Its 100 kWh battery pack supports ultra-fast DC charging up to 270 kW, allowing a 10-to-80 percent top-up in just over 20 minutes.

The system delivers a preliminary WLTP range of approximately 586 kilometres, positioning it among the most capable long-range electric SUVs in its class. It’s a clear sign of Porsche’s intent to blend everyday usability with the kind of performance and efficiency that define the brand’s next-generation electric vehicles.

New features and assistance systems

With the upcoming model year change, Porsche also introduced several new features and assistance systems to its electric Macan. Some of the features are also available via an update for existing vehicles.

Highlights include an improved Porsche Charging Planner that allows drivers to prioritize or exclude specific charging stations, as well as a suite of advanced parking aids, including a “transparent hood” camera view, Trained Parking that learns routine parking spots, and Reversing Assist for automated backing over familiar routes.

The update also introduces Digital Key integration, allowing owners to lock, unlock, and start the Macan using their smartphone or smartwatch, and share access with up to seven people. Passengers can now enjoy in-car gaming via new titles from Gameloft and Obscure Interactive, playable on the touchscreen or with a controller.

Finally, Porsche has increased the towing capacity of all-wheel-drive Macan models by 500 kg to 2,500 kg, with the option to enable this retrospectively in some markets. The refreshed Macan range will launch in Germany this autumn, with other countries following by the end of the year. The Macan GTS will be offered from ‘early 2026’ according to the press release.

Strain of transformation

The Macan line (EV + ICE) is performing well globally, with the EV share rapidly increasing. As of H1 2025, more than half of Macan sales were EVs. During the first half of 2025, Porsche’s Macan lineup continued to perform strongly, with 45,137 units delivered worldwide, a 15 percent increase over the same period last year.

Notably, the brand’s shift toward electrification is accelerating: roughly 57 percent of those deliveries (around 25,900 vehicles) were the all-electric Macan, surpassing sales of the combustion-engine version for the first time.

Despite the Macan’s strong momentum, Porsche as a brand is feeling the strain of transformation. The company is deep in an expensive shift toward electrification, with heavy investments in new EV platforms and software eating into profits.

Meanwhile, sales in China — once Porsche’s growth engine — have slumped amid rising local competition and economic headwinds. Add to that softer luxury demand in Europe and the U.S., and it’s clear why Porsche’s margins are tightening even as its electric Macan turns into a sales success.
