Energy provider ENGIE Vianeo has been awarded a contract to install 835 charging stations for the Brussels-Capital Region. The charging stations must be installed within 2 years.<\/p>\n

The locations, spread across the Brussels-Capital Region, were determined in collaboration with the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and Brussels Environment. They are located based on “heat maps” that show where parking pressure and charging demand are highest.<\/p>\n

Each of these charging points can deliver a power output of 7,4 to 11 kilowatts.<\/p>\n

New major player<\/h4>\n

Vincent Verbeke, CEO of ENGIE Belgium, and Laurent De Vroey, Managing Director of ENGIE Vianeo Belgium, note that this large-scale project is a concrete manifestation of one of the company’s strategic pillars: supporting Belgian clients, cities, and municipalities in reducing their carbon footprint and in the transition to accessible, reliable, and sustainable electric mobility.<\/p>\n

Verbeke emphasizes that ENGIE is currently playing a leading role in e-mobility development in Belgium, thereby further strengthening the company’s position in the energy transition.<\/p>\n

10,500+ charging points in the EU<\/h4>\n

With this new contract, ENGIE Vianeo is also accelerating its effort to achieve its goal of becoming one of the top five European operators of public charging stations for light and heavy-duty vehicles by 2030.<\/p>\n

The ENGIE Vianeo network currently comprises more than 4,500 charging stations with over 10,500 charging points across Europe, spread across over 3,360 locations.<\/p>\n

With the ENGIE charging card, the network extends even further: it provides access to 350,000 charging stations across Europe.<\/p>\n

After winning a portion of the Flemish tender for charging stations in public areas, ENGIE in Belgium is currently busy installing and operating 5,600 public charging points in the provinces of Limburg, East Flanders, and Antwerp.<\/p>\n

10,760+ publicly accessible charging points in Brussels<\/h4>\n

According to the real-time counter on electrify. brussels<\/a>, the Brussels Region currently has 10,760 publicly accessible charging points, on track to reach the 22,000 target by 2035.<\/p>\n

About 3,850 of these are located on public roads, mostly on the sidewalk, and are primarily managed through the ChargyClick concession operated by Sibelga\/Total Energies.<\/p>\n

In addition, 3,806 semi-public charging points on private property are accessible to the public, such as at supermarkets and public parking garages (Interparking, Indigo). Furthermore, there are 3,100+ additional charging points, including Fastned or Tesla fast chargers, charging points at hotels, and charging hubs that have been made publicly accessible.<\/p>\n

For its expansion, ENGIE Vianeo is targeting a combination of public concessions, such as those currently in Brussels, highway hubs, where it installs chargers with a capacity of up to 300 kW along major routes, and B2B & Retail, which includes parking lots from partners such as Decathlon and major hotel chains.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
