At the Volkswagen Group, four electric compact cars are ready for launch. The Cupra Raval, the first production model of an upcoming compact electric car family, is now in the spotlight. It will be joined by the ID. Polo and ID. Cross, and by the Skoda Epiq.<\/p>\n

The Raval is the sporty-looking option of the four and will initially be offered in three launch editions, starting at \u20ac37,250 in Germany and \u20ac39,100 in Belgium. The actual entry-level variant, Raval Light, priced from \u20ac25,950 in Germany and just under \u20ac28,000 in Belgium, is set to follow this summer. With these prices in mind, the Raval will usually be the most expensive of the four.<\/p>\n

Most sporty design<\/h4>\n

There are no surprises in the design. The UrbanRebel concept,<\/a> unveiled four years ago, set the direction, and even with its camouflage at the IAA, it provided a clear indication of the design language.<\/p>\n

Measuring 4.05 meters in length with a 2.60-meter wheelbase, while being approximately 1.78 meters in width and 1.52 meters in height, the Raval positions itself as a compact battery-electric vehicle with a sporty orientation. There are 441 liters of luggage space in the 5-seat configuration.<\/p>\n

At the front, its design is defined by the Cupra-typical Sharknose styling, sharp lines, and Matrix LED headlights. The side profile is slightly softer, complemented by flush-mounted, illuminated door handles.<\/p>\n

The rear design also emphasizes Cupra\u2019s DNA with a striking diffuser and 3D lighting effects. A continuous rear light strip and a borderless illuminated logo visually enhance the car\u2019s width. To allow for maximum personalization, customers can choose from seven exterior colors, two roof colors, and eight alloy wheel designs.<\/p>\n

The Raval\u2019s interior also follows Cupra\u2019s latest design language, as seen in the recent facelift of the Born. The system integrated into the dashboard provides clear visual feedback alongside driver-assistance features such as blind-spot detection and responds to functions like e-Launch with custom animations.<\/p>\n

Like the Born, the Raval features physical buttons on the steering wheel, along with a 10.25-inch cockpit display and a 12.9-inch touchscreen running an Android-based operating system. Additionally, Cupra has equipped the Raval with a unique interior sound inspired by Formula E, activated in the \u2018Performance\u2019 and \u2018Cupra\u2019 driving modes.<\/p>\n

The interior will be available in three styles, Pulse, Immersive, and Feel, with a so-called Ahead-pack on top of it, featuring 3D-printed elements for the special bucket seats and other parts of the interior.<\/p>\n

Most sporty drive<\/h4>\n

Technically, the Raval, like the other compact models from the Group, is based on the MEB+ platform with front-wheel drive. Its sports suspension is lowered by 15 millimeters, and the track width is 10 millimeters wider than the platform\u2019s baseline. The dynamic chassis control uses adaptive dampers with up to 15 adjustment levels on the most powerful version.<\/p>\n

The powertrain options also hold no major surprises: Volkswagen already confirmed the power levels for the ID. Polo in December. Cupra has now also confirmed there will be four variants with outputs of 85, 99, 155, and 166 kW. The top version is badged as VZ (from ‘Veloz’, fast in Spanish) by Cupra, while Volkswagen uses GTI, and Skoda opts for RS.<\/p>\n

The Raval is available with two battery configurations. The two lower-powered variants are paired with a 37 kWh (net) LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) battery, while the more powerful versions feature a 52 kWh NMC (nickel-manganese-cobalt) battery.<\/p>\n

Cupra states a range of up to 300 kilometers for the smaller battery and up to 444 kilometers for the larger one. The VZ version falls in between, with a range of \u00b1380 kilometers.<\/p>\n

Fast charging can proceed at 50 kW in the basic Light version, 88 kW in the 99 kW\/37 kWh version, and 105 kW in both upper versions with the larger 52 kW NMC battery.<\/p>\n

All variants come with a standard 11 kW three-phase AC charger. Beyond charging, the Raval can also supply power back to external devices using Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology.<\/p>\n

High equipment level<\/h4>\n

For a compact car, the Raval is exceptionally well-equipped. It includes features such as Remote Park Assist, which allows the vehicle to be parked via a smartphone, and a Rear Traffic Alert that detects approaching vehicles when reversing to help prevent potential collisions.<\/p>\n

The system is complemented by a Top View Camera that provides a 360-degree view of the vehicle’s surroundings. The new Pre-Crash function not only responds to potential front and rear impacts but also to side collisions. These are just some of the highlights. Others are improved connectivity, an optional Sennheiser sound system, a Digital key, intelligent park assist, etc.<\/p>\n

However, this extensive equipment comes at a price. At launch, from now, Cupra is offering the Raval in three exclusive launch editions. The \u2018First Edition\u2019 version combines the 155 kW powertrain with the larger battery and starts at \u20ac39,100 in Belgium.<\/p>\n

The \u2018First Edition Plus\u2019 variant uses the same powertrain configuration and is priced some \u20ac4,500\u00a0 higher. The top-of-the-range \u2018VZ Extreme\u2019 pairs the 166 kW powertrain with the larger battery and will probably have a price around \u20ac50,000.<\/p>\n

The actual entry-level version of the electric compact car, featuring the smaller battery and the two lower-powered motors, will follow later. Patience is required, as it is not expected to arrive until this summer, with prices starting from below \u20ac28,000.<\/p>\n

The Belgian Cupra importer, D’Ieteren, also offers an Endurance First Edition 155 kW\/52 kWh version at the moment for \u20ac33,820 in an EasyLease formula for 36 months \u2013 delivery in August or September.<\/p>\n
