Volvo has announced the production-ready generation of its electric trucks. The flagship FH Aero Electric is now available with an extended all-electric range of 700 km. Meanwhile, the FH, FM, and FMX Electric get an updated driveline with up to 470 km range and more flexible applications.<\/p>\n

Volvo Trucks continues on its trajectory as a world leader in electric heavy-duty trucks. After announcing the 600-km FH Aero Electric<\/a> just last year, the Swedish manufacturer has now revealed the definitive specs, with an even larger range than previously announced.<\/p>\n

Up to 700 km range<\/h4>\n

The new Volvo FH Aero Electric with extended range features up to eight battery packs powering an e-axle, boosting efficiency, and making more room for additional battery capacity. With up to 780 kWh of capacity, the long-range electric truck offers up to 700 km of driving on a single charge.<\/p>\n

Apart from the Tesla Semi<\/a>, which reaches over 800 km but is still not readily available, no other electric truck does better. The other reference in this segment, the Mercedes eActros 600<\/a>, achieves 500 km on a full charge, but also has a much smaller 600 kWh battery capacity.<\/p>\n

Modular battery and megawatt charging<\/h4>\n

Of course, customers can choose to have less battery capacity to increase the total payload. Volvo announces a payload of up to 28 tonnes on a 48-tonne gross combination weight. A 460 kW (623 hp) dual-motor e-axle on the rear provides the power through a six-speed transmission, built for highway efficiency.<\/p>\n

The Volvo FH Aero Electric with extended range is also compatible with the Megawatt Charging System (MCS), but currently only accepts up to 700 kW. Charging from 20 to 80% takes around 50 minutes with the largest battery, 10 minutes longer than initially announced. Finally, an electric power take-off (PTO) allows refrigerated trailers to be connected without a separate diesel generator.<\/p>\n

Improved electric trucks for regional work<\/h4>\n

Alongside the flagship FH Aero Electric with extended range, Volvo Trucks has also announced updated versions of the FH, FM, and FMX Electric. They get an all-new driveline with up to 470 km of range, built around a different dual-motor configuration with an eight-speed gearbox.<\/p>\n

This drivetrain is built more for regional distribution, heavy application,s and construction work. With up to 540 kW (731 hp) available, the FH Electric 4×2 tractor has a payload of up to 23.8 tonnes, while special GCW combinations of up to 65 tonnes can be achieved. An improved PTO allows for powered auxiliary equipment to be used while driving.<\/p>\n

However, since these trucks are designed for more regional transport duties, MCS compatibility is not available. The 2026 Volvo FH, FM, and FMX Electric are limited to 350 kW CCS charging, which takes about 65 minutes to charge from 20% to 80%.<\/p>\n
