A BMW i5 M60 xDrive sedan assembled at Plant Dingolfing is the BMW Group’s two-millionth all-electric vehicle. The anniversary vehicle is going to a customer in Spain. Meanwhile, Group CEO Oliver Zipse revealed that there are already more than 50,000 pre-orders for the iX3 ‘Neue Klasse’.<\/p>\n

Plant Dingolfing began series production of all-electric automobiles in 2021 with the BMW iX. Today, it builds the widest range of BEV models within the BMW Group: the BMW iX, the BMW i5 sedan and touring, and the BMW i7.<\/p>\n

Since 2021, more than 320,000 all-electric vehicles have already been built at the Lower Bavarian site. This means that almost every sixth of the BMW Group\u2019s total of two million BEVs comes from Dingolfing. In 2025, more than a quarter of the vehicles produced at Plant Dingolfing were all-electric.<\/p>\n

Technology-open and flexible<\/h4>\n

As part of the BMW iFactory, the BMW Group continues to pursue a technology-open approach in its plants: vehicles with different powertrains are flexibly produced in a mixed build on a single production line.<\/p>\n

“For several years now, at least one all-electric model has been rolling off the line at every German BMW Group plant,” BMW proudly states in its press release. “E-mobility has become the new normal across the company\u2019s production network. In doing so, the BMW Group is making a significant contribution to Germany being the world\u2019s second-largest production location for electric cars today.”<\/p>\n

iX3 very successful<\/h4>\n

Speaking during BMW\u2019s latest quarterly results call, CEO Oliver Zipse revealed that there are already more than 50,000 pre-orders for the first Neue Klasse vehicle in Europe.<\/p>\n

“The launch of the iX3 has been extremely successful. Just a few weeks ago, in March, we handed over the first BMW iX3 vehicles to customers across Europe. Over the past weeks, the model has also reached showrooms throughout the region. Pre\u2011orders in Europe now exceed 50,000 units, underscoring the strong interest in this vehicle. Further rollout across the U.S. and Asian markets is planned for the coming months.”<\/p>\n

BMW has confirmed pricing and technical details for the new iX3 50 xDrive in the U.S. and Canada. The first Neue Klasse production model will start at $61,500 in the U.S. and 75,900 CAD in Canada. The iX3 50 xDrive, the first series-production Neue Klasse model, will enter the US market on 25 September. For Canada, the carmaker does not give an exact date, only stating that “the Canadian market launch will take place in Fall 2026.”<\/p>\n

BMW has already opened reservations for the iX3 through its online configurator in North America. Customers in the U.S. can reserve the vehicle with a $1,000 deposit ahead of deliveries, while there is ac \u2018a fully refundable $500 reservation fee\u2019 in Canada.<\/p>\n

The electric SUV currently rolls off the production line in Debrecen, Hungary, where a second production shift has already been started to meet demand. It is in Hungary that the carmaker will also initially produce units for the North American market, before moving production to Mexico. The production facility in San Luis Potos\u00ed is not expected to start operations until mid-2027.<\/p>\n
