<\/p>\nFollowing the Savane 4×4 Concept last year, Renault is unveiling a new variation of the Renault 4 Electric at the 2026 Roland-Garros French Open: Renault 4 JP4x4 Concept.<\/p>\n
A fresh take on the Plein Air and JP4 versions of the original Renault 4, ‘Renault 4 JP4x4 Concept’ is a modern beach car, an adventure-seeking leisure vehicle with a summery vibe. It also adds a touch of adventure with a dual-motor, four-wheel drive setup.<\/p>\n
The ‘Beach Adventurer’, as the company calls it, is the fourth concept following the FL4WER POWER, Savane 4\u00d74, and Vision Rescue, based on the Renault 4 E-Tech platform. Like the first two vehicles, the JP4x4 was showcased in pearlescent Emerald Green, a modern take on its original exterior colors from the 70s and 80s.<\/p>\n
“Renault 4 JP4x4 Concept makes its debut on 18 May on the Renault stand at the 2026 Roland-Garros French Open,” Renault proudly announces. “A fresh take on the Plein Air (1969) and JP4 (1981) versions of the original Renault 4, it reboots the ‘leisure’ styling of these vehicles with its playful, upbeat design. It also adds a touch of adventure with its four-wheel drive system.”<\/p>\n
Described as an \u201cadventurer with an open-air feel”, the concept features two minimalist doors and a drop-top tailgate that opens up the pickup truck bed. The car is thus converted into a two-seater. Inside, the vehicle has bucket seats reminiscent of the ‘Egyptian Mummy’ seats that were a signature in Renault models from the 70s, like the Renault 17 Coup\u00e9 and others.<\/p>\n

The door panels, trunk (a kind of pickup bed), and dashboard are covered in a textile finish, and grab handles are included on the dashboard and passenger side for when things get bumpy.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the floating center infotainment display is an \u201coriginal feature,\u201d Renault said, giving it a modern, high-tech feel. Renault added the JP4 logo on the central outer pillar and ‘4\u00d74’ badges on the front and rear panels in tribute to the original model.<\/p>\n
\u201cA cross between a pickup and a beach buggy, Renault 4 JP4x4 Concept was designed as a car with no real boundary between the exterior and the interior,” says Jean-Philippe Salar, Advanced Design Director, Renault.\u00a0 “This aspect is highlighted by the striking contrast between the Emerald Green of the bodywork and the vibrant orange of the interior textiles.”<\/p>\n

“With its striking design, door frames with orange surrounds, and characteristic rear quarter panel area tapering toward the rear, the Renault 4 JP4x4 Concept is a car unlike any other. The ultra-contemporary look is completed by a 3D-printed pattern on the sides, evoking the world of sportswear and trainers. Designed first and foremost as a leisure vehicle, it invites us to reconnect with the freewheeling spirit of the 1960s and 1970s,” he adds.<\/p>\n

From a technical standpoint, the Renault 4 JP4x4 Concept is built on the same platform as the Renault 4 Savane 4×4 Concept, unveiled in 2025. The JP4x4 concept has 15 mm of additional ground clearance compared to the standard version.<\/p>\n
`It also keeps the 18\u2033 wheel size with special Goodyear UltraGrip Performance+ 225\/55 tires and JP4 wheels, but the front and rear tracks are 10 mm wider on both sides.<\/p>\n
Will we see a production version? Renault has yet to confirm it, but said the beach car concept shows \u201cthe potential of the RGEV small platform to create a B-segment EV with four-wheel drive\u201d with a second electric motor mounted on the rear axle.<\/p>\n
The Renault 4 JP4x4 Concept will not be the only new model on display on the Renault stand at the Roland-Garros French Open. It will be joined by the Renault 4 Roland-Garros E-Tech electric Show car, also making its public debut. This vehicle will be on show in the Plein Sud version with an electric-powered canvas roof.<\/p>\n
The Plein Sud version of the Renault 4 E-Tech electric is now available to order with a Techno or Iconic finish, while the Roland-Garros special edition will be available in both classic and Plein Sud versions on its arrival in showrooms in the late autumn.<\/p>\n
Last but not least, Twingo E-Tech electric and Renault 5 Roland-Garros E-Tech electric will complete the range of vehicles available to visitors at Roland-Garros.<\/p>\n
