<\/p>\nBYD has released the first official production images of the Da Han, a huge electric flagship saloon that moves the Chinese manufacturer into territory occupied in Europe by the Mercedes EQS, BMW i7, and Lucid Air.<\/p>\n
The model will make its public debut at the Chengdu Motor Show in August and sits above the existing Han in BYD\u2019s Dynasty range.<\/p>\n
The images show a streamlined four-door with slim lighting, frameless windows, and a lidar sensor on the roof.<\/p>\n

At 5.26 meters long and almost two meters wide, with a 3.13-meter wheelbase, the Da Han is even longer than a standard Mercedes S-Class. It is not simply the next Han, but a new flagship paired with the recently launched Da Tang seven-seat SUV.<\/p>\n
Chinese homologation documents reveal rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive electric versions. The former develops 370 kW (503 hp), while the most powerful model combines two motors for 570 kW (775 hp).<\/p>\n
Both use a 102.3 kWh LFP Blade battery. Depending on the version, BYD claims between 820 and 1,008 kilometers under China\u2019s generous CLTC test cycle.<\/p>\n
That headline figure will not survive unchanged in Europe. A future European version could achieve roughly 700 to 760 kilometers WLTP in its most efficient form, still enough to rank among the market\u2019s longest-range electric saloons.<\/p>\n
BYD is also preparing a plug-in hybrid with a remarkable 54.5 kWh battery and up to 470 kilometers of electric CLTC range.<\/p>\n
The Da Han is expected to receive BYD\u2019s latest high-voltage platform, flash charging, rear-wheel steering, active suspension, and advanced driver assistance.<\/p>\n
However, the spectacular charging times demonstrated in China depend on BYD\u2019s own megawatt-class chargers. On Europe\u2019s existing 300- or 400-kW public network, the practical advantage will be less dramatic.<\/p>\n
Pricing has not been announced, but the Da Han is expected to target the Chinese 300,000-yuan class, around $44,000 before European taxes and import costs. Its Da Tang sibling costs between 239,900 and 309,900 yuan in China.<\/p>\n
In Belgium, the current Tang starts at \u20ac64,800, while BYD\u2019s Chinese-built electric cars face an additional EU countervailing duty of 17%.<\/p>\n
A Belgian Da Han price between roughly \u20ac70,000 and \u20ac90,000, therefore, appears plausible, although it remains speculative.<\/p>\n
It would undercut the Mercedes EQS, starting at \u20ac104,181, and the Porsche Taycan at \u20ac104,932. The BMW i7 is another direct rival, while the Lucid Air starts at \u20ac88,900 in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n
Less expensive versions could also overlap with the BMW i5, Audi A6 e-tron, and Mercedes EQE.<\/p>\n
The strongest competition may nevertheless come from within BYD. Denza is being introduced in Europe as the group\u2019s premium brand, with the Z9GT aimed at a similar customer. Selling an expensive BYD-badged flagship alongside it could create overlap.<\/p>\n
For Belgium, the Da Han would mainly serve as a technology showcase and executive fleet car rather than a volume model.<\/p>\n
Large saloons are a shrinking niche, while BYD must still build the prestige, dealer confidence, and residual values enjoyed by German premium brands.<\/p>\n No European launch has been confirmed. The related Da Tang SUV is more likely to arrive first, possibly in late 2026 or early 2027.
