Belgium\u2019s leading automotive organizations are preparing to move into a common headquarters in Diegem. FEBIAC says its twenty employees will transfer to the new House of Mobility from October 1, with the official inauguration scheduled for November 26.<\/p>\n
The federation of vehicle manufacturers and importers is driving the project, which will unite manufacturers, leasing companies, dealers, repairers, vehicle-data specialists, and recycling organizations in The Pulse, an office complex beside Diegem railway station, close to Brussels Airport and the Brussels Ring.<\/p>\n
The building was acquired from property developer Ghelamco by the partners behind MOBIA, the alliance formed by FEBIAC, leasing and rental federation Renta, and mobility trade federation TRAXIO. The 7,535-square-meter complex has six office levels and two underground parking floors with 161 spaces.<\/p>\n
The newsletter mentions eight organizations, even though 10 names and logos are shown. The difference is mainly explained by MOBIA being the common umbrella for FEBIAC, Renta, and TRAXIO, while Mobeyond is closely linked to Renta and its digital services.<\/p>\n
The residents include FEBIAC, Renta, Mobeyond, TRAXIO, Car-Pass, Febelcar, Febelauto, Recytyre, and Tersana. Together, they are expected to bring more than 100 employees to the new headquarters.<\/p>\n
An exact total has not yet been officially communicated. However, the latest company accounts point to approximately 109 full-time equivalents. The physical headcount could be slightly higher, possibly around 160 people, because some organizations report their teams in employees rather than full-time equivalents.<\/p>\n
FEBIAC has confirmed that twenty colleagues will move. TRAXIO accounts for approximately 31 full-time equivalents, although the federation publicly states a team of around 40 people.<\/p>\n
Renta\u2019s operational and digital activities, including Renta Solutions and Mobeyond, represent approximately 60 full-time equivalents. They will occupy the complete 4th floor, Stijn Blanckaert, CEO of Renta, specifies.<\/p>\n
Car-Pass, Recytyre, Febelauto, Tersana, and Febelcar together add roughly another 35. Some overlap between the figures cannot be ruled out, as employees of affiliated organizations may already be included in the wider TRAXIO team.<\/p>\n
FEBIAC presents the move as a way to deepen cooperation between organizations facing the same transformation of the mobility market. Their physical proximity should make it easier to exchange information, prepare joint positions, and develop shared services.<\/p>\n
MOBIA has already provided the political framework since 2021. It is not a merger, as FEBIAC, Renta, and TRAXIO retain their identities, but an alliance through which they coordinate positions on subjects affecting the wider automotive sector.<\/p>\n
Moving into the same building gives that cooperation a permanent headquarters and could turn a strategic partnership into a more operational one.<\/p>\n
Together, the residents cover an unusually large part of a vehicle\u2019s lifecycle. FEBIAC represents manufacturers and importers, Renta the leasing and rental sector, and TRAXIO dealers, workshops, and other mobility professionals. Car-Pass manages the legally required mileage and vehicle history system, while Febelauto oversees producer responsibility for end-of-life vehicles and batteries from electric and hybrid cars.<\/p>\n
Recytyre manages the collection and treatment of used tires, Febelcar represents the body-repair sector, and Tersana deals with soil remediation at garages and other automotive sites.<\/p>\n
That combination is becoming more important as cars evolve into connected products and manufacturers remain responsible for batteries and materials long after a vehicle leaves the showroom. Car-Pass is expanding from an anti-fraud document into a broader digital vehicle history, while Febelauto and its partners must prepare for European rules on battery traceability, recycling and the future battery passport.<\/p>\n
The House of Mobility will give the automotive sector a recognizable address for negotiations with Belgium\u2019s regional and federal governments.<\/p>\n
Company-car taxation, zero-emission rules, charging infrastructure, access to repair data, battery recycling, and circular-economy legislation often affect several of the residents simultaneously.<\/p>\n
A shared headquarters can reduce duplication of work and help organizations respond more quickly to new legislation. It will also strengthen their lobbying position.<\/p>\n
Policymakers may increasingly receive coordinated proposals covering almost every commercial stage of a vehicle\u2019s life, rather than separate positions from importers, leasing companies, garages, repairers, and recyclers.<\/p>\n
The name is nevertheless broader than the announced tenant mix. The House of Mobility primarily serves as a center for automotive and individual road mobility.<\/p>\n
Although FEBIAC and TRAXIO also represent bicycles, motorcycles, and other two-wheelers, the residents do not include railway companies, public transport operators, urban mobility authorities, or passenger organizations.<\/p>\n
The concept is not unique in Europe. Frankfurt has the House of Logistics and Mobility, known as HOLM, which connects companies, start-ups, universities, research organizations, public institutions, and associations. It is broader and more focused on research and innovation than the Belgian project.<\/p>\n
Amsterdam also has Move, House of Mobility, combining Pon\u2019s corporate headquarters with exhibitions, events, and a mobility experience center.<\/p>\n
France has several organizations using the Maison de la Mobilit\u00e9 name, often for public information centers focused on cycling, shared transport, and other alternatives.<\/p>\n
FEBIAC\u2019s departure will also bring an end to the current Maison de l\u2019Automobile on Woluwedal in Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe. Developer Baltisse concluded a building-right agreement with FEBIAC in 2024 to redevelop the approximately 5,300-square-meter property.<\/p>\n
The plans involve converting the main office building into housing, demolishing a secondary annex, and constructing a new extension, creating 67 homes in total.<\/p>\n
The project also includes commercial space at ground level, redesigned surroundings, and an underground car park with 113 spaces. The development was submitted to a public inquiry in late 2025 and is still subject on the permit process.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
