ParkBee plans to expand its parking app service in Belgium to street parking. After this summer, drivers looking for a parking spot can find one not only in private parking garages using the ParkBee app but also on the street.\u00a0ParkBee won’t add an additional service fee; the aim is to ease parking pressure in towns by splitting it between two parking options.<\/p>\n
ParkBee’s mission has always been to use existing parking capacity more efficiently. In Brussels, for example, over 600,000 cars battle for 265,000 street parking spaces. In Antwerp, the situation is comparable, with 225,000 registered cars and about 110,000 public street parking spaces. Both cities also face more than ten thousand tourists arriving by car every day.<\/p>\n
Studies suggest that about 30% of traffic in busy cities is due to drivers looking for parking. By offering street and private parking options in a single app, ParkBee aims to help them choose the best parking solution for their needs. The aim is to reduce search traffic, use existing parking spaces more efficiently, and lower parking costs.<\/p>\n
“Many car users only open a parking app when they’re already in a certain street,” says Joost Heetla, MD at ParkBee. “We want to help people plan their trip from earlier on. If a parking garage in the area is cheaper or offers a better chance of finding a parking space, we will show it. In private parking garages, you can also reserve a space. By offering this, we make parking simpler and reduce unnecessary search traffic.”<\/p>\n
In Belgium, ParkBee offers access to a growing network of 165 private parking garages. Often, they are cheaper than street parking or public parking lots. By adding both kinds of possible parking (private parking or on the street) in one app, people will find what they’re looking for faster and more easily.<\/p>\n
ParkBee won’t charge additional administrative or service costs. Additional communication, such as SMS notifications about a current parking status, is a standard item of the app service.<\/p>\n
To introduce the new service, ParkBee has partnered with Seely, one of the larger mobility apps in Belgium. This will accelerate app performance, while separate technical connections with communes or cities can be implemented later. Technical integration is planned to end this summer. Street parking via the ParkBee app will be available throughout Belgium in Autumn.<\/p>\n
ParkBee is a Dutch start-up active since 2014. Currently, it has more than 1,600 parking locations in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and the UK. In the Netherlands, 1 million people already use the app.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
