MINI used to be the kind of car employees wanted, but fleet managers hesitated to buy. In Belgium, that image has changed remarkably quickly. HR group Accent has now ordered 500 fully electric MINIs, the largest single EV order in MINI history worldwide.<\/p>\n
The cars, mainly Aceman and Countryman Electric models, will be deployed across Accent, Nowjobs, and CTRL-F. With around 1,100 employees and more than 300 offices in Belgium, the order represents a substantial part of the group’s company-car fleet.<\/p>\n
For MINI, however, the scale is even more striking. The brand registered 7,558 cars in Belgium in 2025, of which 5,375 went to companies or self-employed customers. That means more than seven out of ten Belgian MINIs were business registrations.<\/p>\n
Accent’s 500-car order alone is equivalent to more than 9% of MINI’s entire Belgian B2B volume last year.<\/p>\n
That would have been difficult to imagine only a few years ago. MINI always had strong brand appeal, but its small cars were often considered too niche or impractical for mainstream company-car policies.\u00a0The new electric range has changed that.<\/p>\n
The Cooper Electric remains the compact entry model, but the Aceman adds five doors, more space, and crossover styling without becoming oversized. Above it, the latest Countryman has grown into a proper family SUV.\u00a0MINI can therefore now cover several company-car categories instead of relying almost entirely on variations of the classic hatchback.<\/p>\n
The Aceman may be the crucial piece. It offers the MINI badge, a relatively compact footprint, and sufficient everyday practicality at a leasing cost that fits lower- and mid-level company-car budgets.<\/p>\n
There is also another factor fleet spreadsheets do not easily capture: desirability.<\/p>\n
For roughly the same leasing budget, an employee may perceive a MINI as more distinctive or premium than many mainstream compact SUVs. That can make it useful for companies competing to attract and retain younger staff \u2013 particularly relevant for an HR group such as Accent.<\/p>\n
Accent is not the first Belgian employer to discover that effect. In 2021, Deloitte Belgium ordered 140 MINI Electrics, which BMW described at the time as the largest electric MINI fleet order in Europe.<\/p>\n
Deloitte already had 100 electric MINIs, and BMW said the model had become particularly popular among younger recruits. Accent has now more than tripled that previous EV benchmark.\u00a0Meanwhile, Belgium itself has become unusually important for MINI. Belgian registrations jumped by around 30% in 2025, compared with worldwide MINI growth of 17.7%.<\/p>\n
The Belgian company-car tax system clearly helps. Fully electric cars ordered by companies in 2026 still benefit from 100% fiscal deductibility throughout their period of use. For cars ordered from 2027 onward, that percentage gradually declines.\u00a0For companies planning a fleet renewal anyway, 2026 is therefore a logical year to move.<\/p>\n
The Accent deal is a world record for electric MINIs, but BMW Group Belux has already signed an even larger EV contract in Belgium this year.<\/p>\n
Katoen Natie ordered more than 1,000 electric BMW and MINI models, which BMW described as the largest Belgian electric corporate fleet deal ever placed with a single manufacturer. That puts Accent’s order into perspective and reinforces the broader trend.<\/p>\n
BMW Group is exceptionally strong in the Belgian company-car market, and MINI is increasingly benefiting from that position. The brand has evolved from a fashionable small car that fleet managers tolerated into a genuine fleet proposition.<\/p>\n
And Belgium appears to be one of the markets where that transformation has gone furthest. Five hundred electric MINIs for a single customer is a record.
