L'ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re, les fabricants chinois de batteries ont contr\u00f4l\u00e9 70,4% du march\u00e9 mondial des batteries pour v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques, soit 20% de plus que l'ann\u00e9e pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente. En fait, tous les pays producteurs de voitures en dehors de la Chine sont en train de perdre la bataille de l'ind\u00e9pendance en mati\u00e8re de batteries.<\/p>\n<p>Peu \u00e0 peu, les craintes deviennent r\u00e9alit\u00e9. La domination de la Chine en mati\u00e8re de batteries frappe le reste du monde comme un train de marchandises. Au centre de tout cela se trouve CATL. Selon les chiffres publi\u00e9s par SNE Research, le g\u00e9ant ninguois s'est empar\u00e9 \u00e0 lui seul de 39,2% des installations mondiales de batteries pour v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques l'ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<p>La progression de la CATL est stup\u00e9fiante : 464,7 GWh en termes absolus, soit une augmentation de 35,7% d'une ann\u00e9e sur l'autre. Pour mettre les choses en perspective, sa part est d\u00e9sormais plus importante que le total combin\u00e9 de tous les fabricants de batteries cor\u00e9ens et japonais de la plan\u00e8te.<\/p>\n<h4>Des b\u00e9n\u00e9fices records<\/h4>\n<p>Les r\u00e9sultats financiers de CATL pour 2025 sont sans appel : le b\u00e9n\u00e9fice net a atteint un nouveau record de 72,2 milliards de yuans (+42%).<b>, <\/b>tandis que les recettes ont augment\u00e9 de 17%. Les usines tournent \u00e0 plein r\u00e9gime. Tout cela alors que les co\u00fbts des mati\u00e8res premi\u00e8res des batteries restent volatils et que les tensions commerciales mondiales s'exacerbent. Il ne s'agit pas de chance, mais d'une machine industrielle extraordinairement bien g\u00e9r\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p>BYD arrive en deuxi\u00e8me position et s'assure une part de 16,4% du march\u00e9 mondial, soit une augmentation de pr\u00e8s d'un tiers par rapport \u00e0 l'ann\u00e9e pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente. CALB est le troisi\u00e8me plus grand fabricant de batteries en Chine, suivi par Gotion en quatri\u00e8me position.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Le revers de la m\u00e9daille de la mont\u00e9e en puissance de la Chine est l'implosion silencieuse de ses rivaux cor\u00e9ens, qui m\u00e9rite une attention particuli\u00e8re. LG Energy Solution (9,2%), SK On (3,7%) et Samsung SDI (3,4%) ne d\u00e9tiennent plus collectivement que 15,3% du march\u00e9 mondial, contre 30% il y a cinq ans. Le b\u00e9n\u00e9fice net de LG Energy Solution s'est effondr\u00e9 de 76% en 2025, tandis que SK On et Samsung SDI ont tous deux enregistr\u00e9 des pertes.<\/p>\n<p>Le probl\u00e8me pour les Cor\u00e9ens est qu'ils ont fortement mis\u00e9 sur le march\u00e9 am\u00e9ricain. Un pari qui s'est transform\u00e9 en cauchemar dans un contexte de politiques de plus en plus incertaines sous l'administration am\u00e9ricaine actuelle, qui a \u00e9trangl\u00e9 les subventions aux v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques et d\u00e9t\u00e9rior\u00e9 les relations commerciales en imposant des droits de douane \u00e0 l'importation. Tous les acteurs du secteur, qui d\u00e9pendent de la Maison Blanche, sont actuellement exsangues.<\/p>\n<h4>Cimeti\u00e8re des bonnes intentions<\/h4>\n<p>En Europe, la situation n'est gu\u00e8re plus r\u00e9jouissante. Northvolt, le grand espoir de la souverainet\u00e9 europ\u00e9enne en mati\u00e8re de batteries, s'est plac\u00e9 sous la protection de la loi sur les faillites \u00e0 la fin de l'ann\u00e9e 2024 et est maintenant relanc\u00e9 par l'am\u00e9ricain Lyft. ACC a coul\u00e9 deux de ses usines pr\u00e9vues, ne laissant que le site fran\u00e7ais, et est en difficult\u00e9.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>L'espoir reste mince. L'Europe n'a pas produit d'alternative cr\u00e9dible \u00e0 l'approvisionnement asiatique \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle. Entre-temps, CATL a tranquillement plant\u00e9 son drapeau sur le sol europ\u00e9en : son usine de premi\u00e8re phase \u00e0 Debrecen, en Hongrie, est entr\u00e9e en service \u00e0 la fin de 2025, id\u00e9alement situ\u00e9e \u00e0 l'int\u00e9rieur de la fronti\u00e8re douani\u00e8re de l'UE et donc \u00e0 l'abri de tout droit de douane \u00e0 l'importation.<\/p>\n<p>Tel est le paradoxe essentiel de la politique industrielle europ\u00e9enne en mati\u00e8re de batteries : des ann\u00e9es de programmes de subventions, de cadres strat\u00e9giques et de discours politiques sur la r\u00e9silience de la cha\u00eene d'approvisionnement... et pourtant, c'est CATL qui a construit l'usine.<\/p>\n<p>Les constructeurs automobiles europ\u00e9ens tels que Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz et BMW continuent de d\u00e9pendre de l'offre chinoise pour leurs programmes d'\u00e9lectrification les plus critiques. Cette d\u00e9pendance aura des cons\u00e9quences strat\u00e9giques dans un avenir proche.<\/p>\n<h4>Un probl\u00e8me de concentration de la taille d'un \u00e9l\u00e9phant<\/h4>\n<p>Il est ind\u00e9niable qu'une seule entreprise contr\u00f4lant pr\u00e8s de 40% de l'offre de la technologie qui sous-tend l'ensemble de la transition vers les v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques constitue un risque de concentration qui devrait d\u00e9clencher une sonnette d'alarme. Mais cette conversation reste \u00e9trangement discr\u00e8te, peut-\u00eatre parce que les constructeurs automobiles d\u00e9pendent si fortement de l'approvisionnement en CATL qu'ils n'ont gu\u00e8re d'int\u00e9r\u00eat \u00e0 amplifier le probl\u00e8me.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Toutefois, CATL n'est pas invuln\u00e9rable. Le march\u00e9 chinois des v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques a montr\u00e9 des signes pr\u00e9coces d'essoufflement au d\u00e9but de l'ann\u00e9e 2026, les ventes de v\u00e9hicules \u00e0 \u00e9nergie nouvelle ayant chut\u00e9 de 28% en glissement annuel au cours des deux premiers mois de l'ann\u00e9e apr\u00e8s que le gouvernement a resserr\u00e9 son r\u00e9gime de subventions ; il reste \u00e0 voir s'il s'agit d'un bruit saisonnier ou de quelque chose de plus structurel.<\/p>\n<p>Mais pour l'instant, l'industrie mondiale des batteries a produit en 2025 un classement que les d\u00e9cideurs politiques occidentaux ont pass\u00e9 la majeure partie de cette d\u00e9cennie \u00e0 essayer d'\u00e9viter. Ils n'ont pas r\u00e9ussi.
