Le groupe a b\u00e2ti son activit\u00e9 sur les composants ext\u00e9rieurs en plastique, tels que les pare-chocs, avant de se d\u00e9velopper dans les syst\u00e8mes d'\u00e9clairage et, plus r\u00e9cemment, dans les technologies de l'hydrog\u00e8ne.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"886\" data-end=\"1318\">Au sein de cette organisation mondiale, le site de Genk \u00e9tait une unit\u00e9 relativement petite mais sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e. Il ne s'agissait pas d'un si\u00e8ge social ou d'un centre de production important, mais plut\u00f4t d'un site satellite d'ing\u00e9nierie et de pilotage au sein de la division \u2018Nouvelles \u00e9nergies\u2019 du groupe.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"886\" data-end=\"1318\">Elle s'est concentr\u00e9e sur le d\u00e9veloppement et l'industrialisation pr\u00e9coce de syst\u00e8mes de stockage d'hydrog\u00e8ne \u00e0 haute pression, en particulier des r\u00e9servoirs composites de type IV capables de stocker de l'hydrog\u00e8ne \u00e0 350-700 bars.<\/p>\n<h4 data-start=\"886\" data-end=\"1318\">Ancien fournisseur de Ford Genk<\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"886\" data-end=\"1318\">Le site portait \u00e9galement une partie du long h\u00e9ritage automobile de Genk. Il \u00e9tait situ\u00e9 sur ou \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 de l'ancien site industriel de Ford Genk, autrefois l'une des plus grandes usines de construction automobile de Belgique, qui a ferm\u00e9 ses portes en 2014.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"886\" data-end=\"1318\">Dans les ann\u00e9es qui ont suivi, la zone a \u00e9t\u00e9 progressivement r\u00e9am\u00e9nag\u00e9e en un p\u00f4le pour les nouvelles activit\u00e9s de mobilit\u00e9 et de fabrication, attirant des fournisseurs et des projets technologiques cherchant \u00e0 tirer parti de la main-d'\u0153uvre qualifi\u00e9e et de l'infrastructure de la r\u00e9gion. Les activit\u00e9s d'OPmobility dans le domaine de l'hydrog\u00e8ne s'inscrivaient dans le cadre de cet effort visant \u00e0 repositionner Genk en tant que centre de technologies automobiles tourn\u00e9es vers l'avenir.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1320\" data-end=\"1736\">Le site a jou\u00e9 un r\u00f4le de soutien dans le cadre d'une empreinte belge plus large. Tandis que Genk se concentrait sur l'innovation, le prototypage et le d\u00e9veloppement de processus, la production \u00e0 l'\u00e9chelle industrielle de r\u00e9servoirs d'hydrog\u00e8ne avait lieu \u00e0 Herentals.<\/p>\n<h4 data-start=\"1320\" data-end=\"1736\">Acteur plus large de la technologie de la mobilit\u00e9<\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"1320\" data-end=\"1736\">D'autres fonctions d'ing\u00e9nierie et d'entreprise \u00e9taient situ\u00e9es pr\u00e8s de Bruxelles. En ce sens, Genk a servi de lien entre la R&amp;D et la fabrication, en aidant \u00e0 traduire les nouveaux concepts en processus industriels.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1738\" data-end=\"2160\">Et ces concepts ont \u00e9t\u00e9 au c\u0153ur du changement strat\u00e9gique d'OPmobility. Au cours de la derni\u00e8re d\u00e9cennie, l'entreprise a tent\u00e9 de se repositionner, passant d'un fournisseur traditionnel de mati\u00e8res plastiques \u00e0 un acteur plus large de la technologie de la mobilit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1738\" data-end=\"2160\">L'hydrog\u00e8ne \u00e9tait un pilier essentiel de cette transformation, au m\u00eame titre que l'\u00e9lectrification et les syst\u00e8mes d'\u00e9clairage avanc\u00e9s. Comme de nombreux fournisseurs, le groupe s'attend \u00e0 une mont\u00e9e en puissance relativement rapide des voitures particuli\u00e8res fonctionnant \u00e0 l'hydrog\u00e8ne.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2162\" data-end=\"2524\">Cette mont\u00e9e en puissance ne s'est jamais concr\u00e9tis\u00e9e. Les syst\u00e8mes \u00e0 hydrog\u00e8ne sont \u00e0 forte intensit\u00e9 de capital et, sans une \u00e9chelle suffisante, la rentabilit\u00e9 reste hors de port\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<h4 data-start=\"2526\" data-end=\"2943\">Consolidation des activit\u00e9s li\u00e9es \u00e0 l'hydrog\u00e8ne<\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"2526\" data-end=\"2943\">OPmobility a donc commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 consolider ses activit\u00e9s li\u00e9es \u00e0 l'hydrog\u00e8ne dans des sites moins nombreux, plus grands et plus strat\u00e9giques, y compris de nouvelles installations en France et \u00e0 l'\u00e9tranger. Dans ce contexte, un petit site ax\u00e9 sur le d\u00e9veloppement comme celui de Genk devient difficile \u00e0 justifier.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2945\" data-end=\"3397\">Cette fermeture refl\u00e8te \u00e9galement une tendance plus g\u00e9n\u00e9rale parmi les fournisseurs automobiles fran\u00e7ais. Des groupes tels que <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Valeo<\/span><\/span> et <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Forvia<\/span><\/span> sont soumis aux m\u00eames pressions de transition.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2945\" data-end=\"3397\">La diminution du volume des moteurs \u00e0 combustion interne, l'augmentation des besoins d'investissement pour l'\u00e9lectrification et les logiciels, et les retours incertains sur les technologies \u00e9mergentes comme l'hydrog\u00e8ne.
