Selon les chiffres publi\u00e9s par <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Renta<\/span><\/span>, Selon la F\u00e9d\u00e9ration belge des soci\u00e9t\u00e9s de location et de leasing de v\u00e9hicules, le nombre de contrats de location priv\u00e9s atteignait 16 074 v\u00e9hicules \u00e0 la fin du mois de mars 2026, soit une hausse de 22% en glissement annuel par rapport aux 13 201 contrats de l'ann\u00e9e pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"178\" data-end=\"795\">Bien que la croissance soit significative, le segment repr\u00e9sente encore \u00e0 peine 3% de la flotte totale de location \u00e0 long terme de plus de 540 000 v\u00e9hicules g\u00e9r\u00e9s par les membres de Renta, ce qui souligne \u00e0 quel point la location priv\u00e9e reste marginale dans un march\u00e9 qui est encore tr\u00e8s majoritairement orient\u00e9 vers les entreprises.<\/p>\n<h4 data-start=\"797\" data-end=\"1406\">Les moteurs \u00e0 combustion interne et les moteurs hybrides dominent toujours<\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"797\" data-end=\"1406\">La composition du parc de v\u00e9hicules en location priv\u00e9e r\u00e9v\u00e8le \u00e9galement des tendances int\u00e9ressantes. Les mod\u00e8les \u00e0 essence et hybrides continuent de dominer, repr\u00e9sentant plus de 86% des contrats, mais leur part diminue progressivement.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"797\" data-end=\"1406\">Les v\u00e9hicules enti\u00e8rement \u00e9lectriques, en revanche, gagnent rapidement du terrain : leur part a presque doubl\u00e9 en un an, passant d'un peu plus de 4% \u00e0 7,8%, pour atteindre 1 255 unit\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"797\" data-end=\"1406\">Les v\u00e9hicules diesel et hybrides rechargeables restent une niche dans ce segment. La dur\u00e9e moyenne des contrats est de 52 mois, ce qui correspond aux tendances g\u00e9n\u00e9rales du leasing, mais confirme que les clients priv\u00e9s, comme les entreprises, optent pour des engagements relativement longs.<\/p>\n<h4>Contraste frappant avec les Pays-Bas<\/h4>\n<p>Le contraste avec les pays voisins est frappant. Aux Pays-Bas, le march\u00e9 de la location priv\u00e9e le plus mature d'Europe, environ 241 800 v\u00e9hicules sont lou\u00e9s \u00e0 titre priv\u00e9, m\u00eame apr\u00e8s une l\u00e9g\u00e8re baisse en 2025.<\/p>\n<p>En termes relatifs, la location priv\u00e9e y repr\u00e9sente une part importante des immatriculations de voitures neuves, alors qu'en Belgique, elle reste un produit de niche.<\/p>\n<p>La France pr\u00e9sente une tendance diff\u00e9rente mais connexe : le leasing est tr\u00e8s r\u00e9pandu mais prend souvent la forme de contrats de location avec option d'achat (LOA), permettant aux conducteurs d'acheter le v\u00e9hicule \u00e0 la fin du contrat. L'Allemagne se situe entre les deux, avec un march\u00e9 du leasing globalement fort, mais toujours domin\u00e9 par les entreprises plut\u00f4t que par les particuliers.<\/p>\n<h4>Domination de la voiture de soci\u00e9t\u00e9<\/h4>\n<p>Le retard de la Belgique n'est donc pas une question de disponibilit\u00e9 de produits ou de croissance r\u00e9cente, mais de diff\u00e9rences structurelles. Il s'agit avant tout de la pr\u00e9dominance de la voiture de soci\u00e9t\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>La Belgique reste l'un des rares pays europ\u00e9ens o\u00f9 les v\u00e9hicules fournis par l'employeur, souvent avec des cartes de carburant ou de recharge, sont profond\u00e9ment ancr\u00e9s dans le syst\u00e8me de r\u00e9mun\u00e9ration.<\/p>\n<p>Pour de nombreux m\u00e9nages, la mobilit\u00e9 est d\u00e9j\u00e0 couverte par un avantage fiscal, ce qui ne les incite gu\u00e8re \u00e0 explorer des alternatives priv\u00e9es. Ce biais structurel explique pourquoi le march\u00e9 du leasing au sens large en Belgique reste tr\u00e8s majoritairement orient\u00e9 vers le B2B.<\/p>\n<p>Un deuxi\u00e8me facteur est d'ordre culturel. Les consommateurs belges ont toujours pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9 la propri\u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e0 l'usage. L'id\u00e9e de payer une redevance mensuelle fixe sans \u00eatre propri\u00e9taire de la voiture rencontre encore des r\u00e9sistances, m\u00eame si des mod\u00e8les d'abonnement similaires ont \u00e9t\u00e9 largement accept\u00e9s dans d'autres secteurs.<\/p>\n<h4>Co\u00fbt total de possession inconnu<\/h4>\n<p>Renta elle-m\u00eame note que les clients priv\u00e9s belges restent moins enclins \u00e0 choisir une formule dans laquelle ils ne deviennent pas propri\u00e9taires du v\u00e9hicule. Cependant, lorsqu'on l'analyse du point de vue du co\u00fbt total de possession (TCO), la location priv\u00e9e semble plus comp\u00e9titive que ne le pensent de nombreux consommateurs.<\/p>\n<p>Une voiture \u00e9lectrique de milieu de gamme comme la Volkswagen ID.3 peut \u00eatre lou\u00e9e \u00e0 titre priv\u00e9 en Belgique pour environ 450 \u00e0 500 euros par mois, tout compris.<\/p>\n<p>L'achat du m\u00eame v\u00e9hicule par le biais d'un financement peut sembler moins cher \u00e0 premi\u00e8re vue, avec des mensualit\u00e9s de pr\u00eat d'environ 600 \u00e0 650 euros, mais une fois l'assurance, l'entretien, les pneus et les autres frais de fonctionnement inclus, le co\u00fbt mensuel r\u00e9el peut facilement d\u00e9passer 800 euros.<\/p>\n<p>Dans ce contexte, la location priv\u00e9e offre une pr\u00e9visibilit\u00e9 des co\u00fbts et \u00e9limine les risques li\u00e9s \u00e0 la d\u00e9pr\u00e9ciation, ce qui est particuli\u00e8rement important pour les v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques dont les valeurs r\u00e9siduelles restent incertaines.<\/p>\n<p>Cet \u00e9cart entre le co\u00fbt per\u00e7u et le co\u00fbt r\u00e9el est crucial. Les consommateurs belges ont tendance \u00e0 comparer les loyers avec les mensualit\u00e9s d'un pr\u00eat plut\u00f4t qu'avec le co\u00fbt total de la propri\u00e9t\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Sur des march\u00e9s comme les Pays-Bas, o\u00f9 les voitures de soci\u00e9t\u00e9 sont beaucoup moins r\u00e9pandues, les consommateurs sont plus enclins \u00e0 \u00e9valuer la mobilit\u00e9 comme un service dont le prix mensuel est forfaitaire. Cette diff\u00e9rence de mentalit\u00e9 explique en partie pourquoi l'adoption de la location priv\u00e9e peut \u00eatre plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e m\u00eame lorsque les prix absolus sont comparables ou plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s qu'en Belgique.<\/p>\n<p>N\u00e9anmoins, \u00e0 moins que le cadre fiscal relatif aux voitures de soci\u00e9t\u00e9 ne change de mani\u00e8re significative, il est peu probable que la Belgique comble l'\u00e9cart qui la s\u00e9pare de son voisin du nord \u00e0 court terme. Le march\u00e9 belge de la location priv\u00e9e n'est pas tant sous-d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 que limit\u00e9.
