Conna\u00eet l'entreprise sur le bout des doigts<\/h4>\n

Le N\u00e9erlandais Rob Smeets (56 ans) n'est pas un inconnu pour le port d'Anvers-Bruges. Il travaille pour l'autorit\u00e9 portuaire depuis plus de 20 ans, o\u00f9 il a occup\u00e9 des postes tels que chef de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 des remorqueurs, directeur des op\u00e9rations et directeur des op\u00e9rations nautiques. Apr\u00e8s le d\u00e9part de Mme Vandermeiren, il a \u00e9galement assur\u00e9 l'int\u00e9rim.<\/p>\n

\u201cRob conna\u00eet l'autorit\u00e9 portuaire et le port comme personne d'autre. D\u00e9fis importants<\/h4>\n

N\u00e9anmoins, le nouveau directeur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral doit relever des d\u00e9fis importants pour renforcer la position de leader du port d'Anvers-Bruges en tant que port mondial. Au cours des dix prochaines ann\u00e9es, l'autorit\u00e9 portuaire devra trouver environ 5 milliards d'euros pour divers projets.<\/p>\n

Par exemple, de nouvelles \u00e9cluses sont n\u00e9cessaires \u00e0 Zeebrugge, le port de Doel va s'agrandir avec un nouveau quai \u00e0 mar\u00e9e, le port du Waasland va continuer \u00e0 se d\u00e9velopper et des travaux d'infrastructure sont pr\u00e9vus pour l'Europa Terminal (le tout premier terminal \u00e0 conteneurs \u00e0 mar\u00e9e dans le port d'Anvers), le projet le plus important.<\/p>\n

Les porte-conteneurs les plus modernes sont tout simplement trop grands et trop profonds pour l'infrastructure actuelle. C'est pourquoi le mur de quai de 1 200 m\u00e8tres sera approfondi de 13,5 m\u00e8tres \u00e0 16 m\u00e8tres, et 12 grues de quai semi-automatiques de pointe seront \u00e9galement install\u00e9es. Une fois les travaux termin\u00e9s, le terminal pourra accueillir des navires d'une capacit\u00e9 maximale de 25 000 EVP et d'une longueur de 400 m\u00e8tres, et sa capacit\u00e9 de manutention annuelle passera de 1,7 million d'EVP \u00e0 2,5 millions d'EVP.<\/p>\n

Nouvelle phase strat\u00e9gique<\/h4>\n

Environ 1,9 milliard des 5 milliards provient du gouvernement flamand, mais pour le reste, l'autorit\u00e9 portuaire doit rechercher des capitaux suppl\u00e9mentaires par le biais de pr\u00eats bancaires et d'injections de capitaux.<\/p>\n

C'est pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment la principale diff\u00e9rence entre Smeets et Vandermeiren. Jusqu'\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent, l'autorit\u00e9 portuaire a \u00e9t\u00e9 en mesure de financer de nombreux investissements \u00e0 partir de ses propres sources, mais le port entre maintenant dans une nouvelle phase strat\u00e9gique qui met fortement l'accent sur la rentabilit\u00e9 et la cr\u00e9ation de valeur durable, et donc sur la recherche d'investissements externes.<\/p>\n

Et ce n'est pas le moindre : Le port de Waasland, un \u00e9l\u00e9ment cl\u00e9 du port d'Anvers-Bruges, a perdu pr\u00e8s de 2% de son trafic maritime l'ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re. Les chiffres de Statbel montrent que le trafic dans tous les ports maritimes flamands a baiss\u00e9 de 3%.<\/p>\n

D\u00e9passer Rotterdam en tant que premier port europ\u00e9en semblait possible il y a encore quelques ann\u00e9es, mais c'est redevenu une chim\u00e8re flamande.
