Sur le papier, cela ressemble \u00e0 un net ralentissement apr\u00e8s des ann\u00e9es de croissance \u00e0 deux chiffres. En r\u00e9alit\u00e9, cela montre que le march\u00e9 ne se comporte plus comme un tout homog\u00e8ne. Mais l\u2019Europe et la Belgique brossent un tableau diff\u00e9rent.<\/p>\n<p>Selon BMI, les immatriculations europ\u00e9ennes de v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques \u00e0 batterie et hybrides rechargeables ont augment\u00e9 de 23% en mai pour atteindre environ 415 000 unit\u00e9s, gr\u00e2ce aux mesures d'incitation, \u00e0 la hausse des prix de l'essence et \u00e0 un choix plus large de mod\u00e8les.<\/p>\n<h4>La Chine a pris le contre-pied<\/h4>\n<p>La Chine, qui reste de loin le plus grand march\u00e9 mondial des v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques, a connu une \u00e9volution inverse, avec des immatriculations nationales en baisse de 9% pour s'\u00e9tablir \u00e0 environ 987 000 unit\u00e9s, suite \u00e0 l'expiration des avantages fiscaux et des aides \u00e0 la reprise. L'Am\u00e9rique du Nord a connu une baisse encore plus marqu\u00e9e, avec une diminution de 26% pour atteindre environ 123 000 v\u00e9hicules, en raison de l'affaiblissement des mesures de soutien mises en place aux \u00c9tats-Unis.<\/p>\n<p>Cela fait de 2026 une ann\u00e9e plus complexe pour la mobilit\u00e9 \u00e9lectrique. La transition mondiale ne s\u2019inverse pas, mais elle entre dans une phase plus lente et plus in\u00e9gale. L\u2019Agence internationale de l\u2019\u00e9nergie pr\u00e9voit toujours que les ventes de voitures \u00e9lectriques atteindront 23 millions cette ann\u00e9e, soit 28% de l\u2019ensemble des voitures neuves vendues.<\/p>\n<p>EV Volumes se montre plus prudent, tablant sur 22,7 millions d\u2019unit\u00e9s, soit une hausse de seulement 5% par rapport \u00e0 2025. Ces deux sc\u00e9narios auraient \u00e9t\u00e9 consid\u00e9r\u00e9s comme extraordinaires il y a encore quelques ann\u00e9es. En 2025, les ventes mondiales de voitures \u00e9lectriques d\u00e9passaient d\u00e9j\u00e0 les 20 millions d\u2019unit\u00e9s, ce qui signifie qu\u2019environ une voiture neuve sur quatre vendue dans le monde \u00e9tait \u00e9lectrique.<\/p>\n<h4>Ralentissement du march\u00e9<\/h4>\n<p>Le contraste avec le pass\u00e9 r\u00e9cent est saisissant. Avant la pand\u00e9mie, les voitures \u00e9lectriques restaient encore un produit de niche sur de nombreux march\u00e9s. Aujourd\u2019hui, le d\u00e9bat ne porte plus sur la capacit\u00e9 des v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques \u00e0 se d\u00e9velopper, mais sur la question de savoir si cette croissance pourra se maintenir au m\u00eame rythme qu\u2019auparavant. Cette distinction est importante. Un march\u00e9 peut ralentir tout en continuant \u00e0 s\u2019\u00e9tendre structurellement chaque ann\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p>L'Europe en est un bon exemple. Le continent a connu un fort rebond du march\u00e9 des v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques en 2025, ann\u00e9e o\u00f9 les ventes de voitures \u00e9lectriques ont augment\u00e9 de plus de 30% pour atteindre 4,2 millions d'unit\u00e9s, soit 28% des ventes de voitures neuves, selon l'AIE.<\/p>\n<p>Au sein de l'UE, les voitures \u00e9lectriques \u00e0 batterie ont atteint une part de march\u00e9 de 17,41 TP3T en 2025, contre 13,61 TP3T en 2024, tandis que les v\u00e9hicules \u00e0 essence et diesel ont continu\u00e9 \u00e0 perdre du terrain. Les donn\u00e9es de 2026 indiquent que l'Europe a maintenu son \u00e9lan, alors m\u00eame que le march\u00e9 chinois conna\u00eet un ralentissement et que l'Am\u00e9rique du Nord recule.<\/p>\n<p>La Belgique figure parmi les pays les plus touch\u00e9s par cette tendance europ\u00e9enne. En mai, les immatriculations de voitures neuves en Belgique et au Luxembourg ont recul\u00e9 de 2,11 TP3T pour s'\u00e9tablir \u00e0 33 625 v\u00e9hicules, en partie en raison d'un nombre r\u00e9duit de jours ouvr\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p>Pourtant, les v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques \u00e0 batterie ont continu\u00e9 \u00e0 gagner du terrain, atteignant 37,41 TP3T du march\u00e9, soit pr\u00e8s de deux cinqui\u00e8mes des nouvelles immatriculations. Au cours des cinq premiers mois, le march\u00e9 global a recul\u00e9 de 4,11 TP3T, mais la composition des motorisations a continu\u00e9 \u00e0 \u00e9voluer vers l'\u00e9lectrification.<\/p>\n<h4>La Belgique a radicalement chang\u00e9<\/h4>\n<p>La situation en Belgique a radicalement chang\u00e9 en peu de temps. Les chiffres de Statbel montrent que les voitures hybrides et \u00e9lectriques repr\u00e9sentaient 72,81 TP3T des immatriculations de voitures particuli\u00e8res neuves en 2025, contre 7,91 TP3T en 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Le diesel, autrefois dominant, n'a repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 plus que 3,5% des nouvelles immatriculations. EV Belgium a recens\u00e9 environ 145 000 voitures \u00e9lectriques vendues en Belgique en 2025, soit une hausse de 13,61 TP3T par rapport \u00e0 2024, ce qui conf\u00e8re aux mod\u00e8les \u00e9lectriques une part de march\u00e9 de 351 TP3T.<\/p>\n<p>Cela ne signifie pas pour autant que les particuliers belges soient soudainement devenus des adeptes convaincus des v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques. L'\u00e9lectrification du pays reste en grande partie tir\u00e9e par les v\u00e9hicules de fonction.<\/p>\n<p>Selon Statbel et EV Belgium, pr\u00e8s de 9 nouvelles voitures enti\u00e8rement \u00e9lectriques sur 10 immatricul\u00e9es en 2025 l'ont \u00e9t\u00e9 par des entreprises. Chez les particuliers, le prix, l'acc\u00e8s aux bornes de recharge et le manque de confiance dans les batteries restent des obstacles majeurs.<\/p>\n<p>L'\u00e9tude de Deloitte sur la consommation en Belgique en 2026 a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 que seuls 12% des personnes interrog\u00e9es pr\u00e9f\u00e9raient un v\u00e9hicule \u00e9lectrique \u00e0 batterie (BEV) comme prochain v\u00e9hicule, soit \u00e0 peine plus qu'en 2025, tandis que 45% pr\u00e9f\u00e9raient toujours l'essence ou le diesel, et 31% les hybrides.<\/p>\n<h4>Le march\u00e9 de l'occasion, un moteur de croissance<\/h4>\n<p>Cette contradiction apparente marque le d\u00e9but d'une nouvelle \u00e9tape dans l'histoire des v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques en Belgique. Le march\u00e9 des v\u00e9hicules de soci\u00e9t\u00e9 a acc\u00e9l\u00e9r\u00e9 les nouvelles immatriculations de v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques. Le march\u00e9 des particuliers pourrait suivre plus tard, via le march\u00e9 de l'occasion.<\/p>\n<p>La Belgique est un pays o\u00f9 le march\u00e9 des voitures d'occasion est tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9sent, celles-ci repr\u00e9sentant 64% des ventes automobiles en 2025. Les voitures \u00e9lectriques ne repr\u00e9sentent encore qu'une petite part de ce march\u00e9, passant de 3% \u00e0 5%, mais l'offre de v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques issus de contrats de leasing va cro\u00eetre rapidement \u00e0 mesure que les voitures de fonction actuelles reviendront sur le march\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Si ces voitures sont propos\u00e9es \u00e0 des prix attractifs, avec des garanties encore valables sur la batterie et des informations transparentes sur l'\u00e9tat de celle-ci, elles pourraient permettre aux m\u00e9nages qui ne peuvent pas ou ne souhaitent pas acheter un v\u00e9hicule neuf d'acc\u00e9der aux v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques.<\/p>\n<p>Cela pourrait \u00e9galement att\u00e9nuer le discours n\u00e9gatif sur les v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques qui circule sur les r\u00e9seaux sociaux. La familiarit\u00e9 joue un r\u00f4le important. Lorsque les voisins, les proches et les coll\u00e8gues ach\u00e8tent des v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques d'occasion qui fonctionnent de mani\u00e8re fiable et dont les co\u00fbts d'utilisation sont moins \u00e9lev\u00e9s, le d\u00e9bat devient moins id\u00e9ologique et plus concret.<\/p>\n<p>Pour l'instant, les chiffres du mois de mai ne laissent pas pr\u00e9sager un effondrement du march\u00e9 des v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques. Ils indiquent plut\u00f4t que le march\u00e9 est en pleine mutation. La croissance mondiale est plus lente que pendant les ann\u00e9es de forte expansion, mais la base de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence est bien plus importante.<\/p>\n<p>L'Europe continue sur sa lanc\u00e9e. La Belgique affiche d\u00e9j\u00e0 un taux d'\u00e9lectrification \u00e9lev\u00e9 parmi les nouvelles immatriculations, m\u00eame si cela concerne principalement les flottes.
