M\u00eame si cette solution n'est peut-\u00eatre pas la plus adapt\u00e9e au march\u00e9 europ\u00e9en, les groupes motopropulseurs au m\u00e9thanol connaissent un grand succ\u00e8s en Chine. Mais sont-ils respectueux de l'environnement en termes d'\u00e9missions de CO\u2082 ?<\/p>\n<p>La cha\u00eene cin\u00e9matique au m\u00e9thanol D20 de Horse a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e au salon Auto China 2026. Elle associe un moteur quatre cylindres turbocompress\u00e9 de 2,0 litres \u00e0 un g\u00e9n\u00e9rateur \u00e0 flux axial qui r\u00e9injecte directement l'\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 dans le pack de batteries. Contrairement aux hybrides rechargeables, le D20 fonctionne exclusivement en mode hybride en s\u00e9rie : le moteur n'entra\u00eene jamais directement les roues. Il s'agit d'une technologie d'extension d'autonomie.<\/p>\n<h4>La plus grande flotte fonctionnant au m\u00e9thanol<\/h4>\n<p>Le choix du carburant rev\u00eat une grande importance. \u00c0 l'exception de quelques initiatives priv\u00e9es, il n'existe aucun r\u00e9seau paneurop\u00e9en de stations-service proposant du m\u00e9thanol. La Chine repr\u00e9sente un march\u00e9 bien plus important. Elle produit environ 60 % du m\u00e9thanol mondial, encourage depuis plusieurs ann\u00e9es d\u00e9j\u00e0 l'utilisation de v\u00e9hicules compatibles avec le M100 et dispose du plus grand parc automobile au monde fonctionnant au m\u00e9thanol.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Au total, la Chine compte plus de 28 000 taxis fonctionnant au m\u00e9thanol. Les v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques \u00e0 autonomie prolong\u00e9e repr\u00e9sentent plus d'un million de ventes par an. Ne vous y trompez donc pas : Horse Powertrain s'adresse \u00e0 un march\u00e9 existant plut\u00f4t que d'essayer d'en cr\u00e9er un.<\/p>\n<p>Du point de vue environnemental, la situation est moins claire. La majeure partie du m\u00e9thanol actuellement produit en Chine est issue du charbon. Bien que les \u00e9missions \u00e0 l'\u00e9chappement soient plus faibles, cela annule tout avantage en termes d'empreinte carbone par rapport aux combustibles fossiles. Le pays investit dans le \u00ab e-m\u00e9thanol \u00bb, produit \u00e0 partir d'hydrog\u00e8ne renouvelable et de CO\u2082 captur\u00e9, mais la mise \u00e0 l'\u00e9chelle de ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9 reste un d\u00e9fi de taille.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4>D\u00e9couvrez le g\u00e9n\u00e9rateur \u00e0 flux axial<\/h4>\n<p>Horse peut fabriquer le mat\u00e9riel, mais l\u2019empreinte carbone du carburant qu\u2019il consomme d\u00e9pend de la politique \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique du pays o\u00f9 il est commercialis\u00e9. Ainsi, le D20 offre une solution cl\u00e9 en main aux constructeurs qui souhaitent p\u00e9n\u00e9trer le march\u00e9 chinois en plein essor des v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques \u00e0 autonomie prolong\u00e9e sans avoir \u00e0 repenser leurs plates-formes de batteries.<\/p>\n<p>Horse affirme que ce syst\u00e8me convertit le carburant en \u00e9lectricit\u00e9 avec un rendement de 47 %, ce qui est assez \u00e9lev\u00e9, et qu\u2019il p\u00e8se au total 170 kg. Le syst\u00e8me peut fournir jusqu\u2019\u00e0 105 kW (143 ch), en int\u00e9grant le moteur et l\u2019\u00e9lectronique de puissance. Fait exceptionnel, il est coupl\u00e9 \u00e0 une machine \u00e9lectrique \u00e0 flux axial \u00e0 double rotor sans yoke, au lieu d\u2019une unit\u00e9 \u00e0 flux radial.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>L'entreprise a d\u00e9ploy\u00e9 des efforts consid\u00e9rables pour r\u00e9duire la taille du moteur \u00e0 flux axial afin de rendre l'ensemble du moteur aussi compact que possible. Il s'av\u00e8re que ce dernier est 46 % plus court qu'un mod\u00e8le classique et offre une densit\u00e9 de puissance volum\u00e9trique sup\u00e9rieure de 63 %.<\/p>\n<p>Il est mont\u00e9 directement sur le vilebrequin, ce qui \u00e9vite d'avoir recours \u00e0 une transmission distincte et r\u00e9duit les pertes m\u00e9caniques. Les modules de puissance en carbure de silicium lui permettent de s'adapter \u00e0 des architectures de v\u00e9hicules de 400 V ou 800 V.<\/p>\n<h4>D'une port\u00e9e plus restreinte<\/h4>\n<p>Le d\u00e9marrage \u00e0 froid constitue un obstacle majeur pour de nombreux moteurs au m\u00e9thanol. Mais Horse affirme que son syst\u00e8me d'allumage \u00e0 haute \u00e9nergie, d'une puissance de 240 millijoules, permet de d\u00e9marrer le moteur \u00e0 des temp\u00e9ratures pouvant descendre jusqu'\u00e0 moins 35 degr\u00e9s Celsius.<\/p>\n<p>Selon l'entreprise, une strat\u00e9gie de combustion en m\u00e9lange pauvre permet de maintenir les \u00e9missions d'oxydes d'azote dans les limites fix\u00e9es \u00e0 la fois par la norme chinoise CN6b et par la future norme Euro 7 (60 mg\/km). Lors d'essais en laboratoire, Horse indique que le D20 a recharg\u00e9 une batterie de 40 kWh en consommant 19,6 litres de m\u00e9thanol.<\/p>\n<p>Horse a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9e il y a deux ans sous la forme d'une coentreprise \u00e0 parts \u00e9gales entre Renault et Geely, Saudi Aramco ayant par la suite pris une participation de 10 %. Son si\u00e8ge social est situ\u00e9 \u00e0 Londres et elle s'appuie sur pr\u00e8s de 125 ans d'exp\u00e9rience cumul\u00e9e de ses groupes m\u00e8res dans le domaine des moteurs.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Auparavant, Horse avait pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 le C15. Ce moteur polyvalent peut fonctionner \u00e0 l'essence, \u00e0 l'\u00e9thanol, au m\u00e9thanol ou au carburant synth\u00e9tique.
