Le site sera inaugur\u00e9 au sein du \u00ab NextGen District \u00bb, le p\u00f4le d'innovation du port d'Anvers-Bruges, sur le site de l'ancienne usine Opel.<\/p>\n<p>L'objectif est de produire 50 tonnes m\u00e9triques d'hydrog\u00e8ne vert par an. L'entreprise commence d\u00e9lib\u00e9r\u00e9ment \u00e0 petite \u00e9chelle afin de pouvoir se d\u00e9velopper progressivement et de d\u00e9montrer l'efficacit\u00e9 de cette technologie.<\/p>\n<p>Cette nouvelle m\u00e9rite d'\u00eatre soulign\u00e9e car Plug Power \u2013 \u00e9galement une entreprise am\u00e9ricaine \u2013 a r\u00e9cemment abandonn\u00e9 son projet de construction d'une usine d'hydrog\u00e8ne sur ce m\u00eame site, qui fait office de sorte de laboratoire d'essai pour les projets li\u00e9s \u00e0 la transition \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique et \u00e0 l'\u00e9conomie circulaire au sein du port d'Anvers-Bruges. Elle entend se positionner comme un acteur europ\u00e9en <a href=\"https:\/\/newmobility.news\/fr\/2026\/08\/17\/belgium-builds-hydrogen-highway-but-customers-dont-bite\/\">plateforme d'importation<\/a> pour l'hydrog\u00e8ne vert.<\/p>\n<h4>de $1 \u00e0 $2 par kilogramme d'hydrog\u00e8ne<\/h4>\n<p>Power to Hydrogen (P2H2), une entreprise qui a lev\u00e9 \u00e0 ce jour environ 23 millions de dollars aupr\u00e8s d\u2019investisseurs, dont le fonds d\u2019investissement flamand Finindus, a pour objectif d\u2019acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer la transition vers une \u00e9conomie de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne vert gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9lectrolyse par membrane d\u2019\u00e9change d\u2019anions (AEM).<\/p>\n<p>Cette approche devrait permettre de r\u00e9duire consid\u00e9rablement le co\u00fbt de production de l'hydrog\u00e8ne vert, pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment parce qu'elle offre une grande souplesse pour alterner entre l'\u00e9lectrolyse et le stockage d'\u00e9nergie.<\/p>\n<p>Plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment, P2H2 utilise un \u00e9lectrolyseur AEM, plut\u00f4t qu\u2019un \u00e9lectrolyseur AEL ou PEM, qui fonctionne avec des mat\u00e9riaux moins co\u00fbteux et peut \u00eatre mis \u00e0 l\u2019arr\u00eat lorsque le prix de l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 est \u00e9lev\u00e9 \u2013 ce qui conf\u00e8re au syst\u00e8me une grande souplesse d\u2019utilisation en fonction des prix de l\u2019\u00e9nergie.<\/p>\n<p>Le syst\u00e8me a une puissance de 500 kilowatts. L'objectif est de ramener le co\u00fbt total de l'hydrog\u00e8ne \u00e0 $1 \u00e0 $2 par kilogramme, ce qui ferait de l'hydrog\u00e8ne une alternative viable aux combustibles fossiles.<\/p>\n<h4>Gr\u00e2ce aux technologies spatiales<\/h4>\n<p>Ce qui est remarquable dans cette technologie, c'est son origine : la NASA et\u2026 la Lune. Avec le soutien de la NASA, le projet \u00ab Power to Hydrogen \u00bb a test\u00e9 et d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 une technologie de pile \u00e0 combustible r\u00e9versible dans le but de capter de mani\u00e8re \u00e9conomique l'\u00e9nergie solaire sur la Lune et de la stocker sous forme d'hydrog\u00e8ne afin de l'utiliser pendant les nuits lunaires, qui durent deux semaines et au cours desquelles il n'y a pas de lumi\u00e8re solaire.<\/p>\n<p>Un dispositif dot\u00e9 de cette technologie peut fonctionner dans deux sens. Dans le sens \u201c direct \u201d (\u00e9lectrolyse), il transforme l'eau et l'\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 en hydrog\u00e8ne et en oxyg\u00e8ne \u2013 selon le m\u00eame principe qu'un \u00e9lectrolyseur.<\/p>\n<p>Dans le sens \u201c inverse \u201d, il fonctionne comme une pile \u00e0 combustible : il recombine l'hydrog\u00e8ne et l'oxyg\u00e8ne pour produire de l'\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 et de l'eau.<\/p>\n<h4>R\u00e9duction des co\u00fbts<\/h4>\n<p>Cette m\u00eame technologie est d\u00e9sormais utilis\u00e9e pour des applications terrestres, comme \u00e0 Anvers : la production, le stockage et l'utilisation de l'hydrog\u00e8ne en tant que source d'\u00e9nergie d\u00e9carbon\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p>Cependant, leur technologie AEM repose sur un \u00e9lectrolyseur hybride alcalin liquide\/\u00e0 membrane. De plus, l'entreprise \u2013 qui suit d\u00e9lib\u00e9r\u00e9ment l'approche \u201c faire ses preuves \u00e0 petite \u00e9chelle, puis se d\u00e9velopper \u201d \u2013 compte \u00e9galement s\u00e9duire le port d'Anvers lui-m\u00eame.<\/p>\n<h4>Petite \u00e9chelle, grand coup de pouce<\/h4>\n<p>Pour le port d'Anvers-Bruges, l'arriv\u00e9e de cette entreprise am\u00e9ricaine sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e dans les technologies de pointe \u2013 apr\u00e8s le revers essuy\u00e9 avec Power Plug \u2013 constitue sans aucun doute un coup de pouce.<\/p>\n<p>L'arriv\u00e9e de Plug Power \u2013 m\u00eame si son projet \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rent, de plus grande envergure et a finalement \u00e9chou\u00e9 \u2013 avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 valu \u00e0 Anvers une certaine r\u00e9putation de \u201c port de l'hydrog\u00e8ne \u201d au sein du secteur. Et cela a sans aucun doute jou\u00e9 un r\u00f4le dans le choix d'une autre entreprise am\u00e9ricaine d'opter pour la m\u00eame voie \u2013 m\u00eame si l'approche de P2H2 est d\u00e9sormais beaucoup plus prudente.<\/p>\n<p>Mais plusieurs des investisseurs de P2H2 sont \u00e9galement des entreprises \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques europ\u00e9ennes et internationales, telles qu\u2019E.ON, EDP, ESP et American Electric Power, qui ont uni leurs forces au sein du programme d\u2019innovation \u2019 Free Electrons \u00bb destin\u00e9 aux services publics.<\/p>\n<h4>Cofinancement par le port<\/h4>\n<p>Ces acteurs \u00e9taient eux-m\u00eames \u00e0 la recherche d\u2019un site pour tester cette technologie, et le port d\u2019Anvers \u2013 qui est, apr\u00e8s tout, le c\u0153ur du plus grand p\u00f4le p\u00e9trochimique int\u00e9gr\u00e9 d\u2019Europe \u2013 offrait justement cet environnement : un terrain d\u2019essai avec un faible seuil d\u2019acc\u00e8s, des concessions \u00e0 court terme et un cofinancement par le port.<\/p>\n<p>Si tout se passe comme pr\u00e9vu, Power to Hydrogen pr\u00e9voit de multiplier par dix sa production pour atteindre 500 tonnes m\u00e9triques par an d'ici d\u00e9but 2028.
