Geely Auto, la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 m\u00e8re de Volvo et Polestar, a pris une participation de 30% dans Nio Power, la filiale de son concurrent chinois sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e dans le remplacement de batteries et la recharge. Cette prise de participation peut para\u00eetre \u00e9trange. \u00c0 peine une semaine auparavant, Geely avait en effet d\u00e9voil\u00e9 une technologie de recharge rapide qui rend le remplacement de batteries superflu.<\/p>\n

Il y a quelques jours \u00e0 peine, Geely a d\u00e9voil\u00e9 un chargeur de 2,2 m\u00e9gawatts<\/a>, permettant de recharger une batterie de 10 \u00e0 70 % en moins de cinq minutes. C'est \u00e0 peu pr\u00e8s ce que le syst\u00e8me d'\u00e9change de batteries \u00e9tait cens\u00e9 offrir \u00e0 l'origine.<\/p>\n

Plusieurs chevaux<\/h4>\n

Alors pourquoi Geely investit-elle aujourd\u2019hui 84 millions d\u2019euros dans un r\u00e9seau que sa propre technologie innovante pourrait rendre obsol\u00e8te ? Parce que Geely, \u00e0 l\u2019instar de la plupart des acteurs du secteur chinois, ne sait plus quel mod\u00e8le de ravitaillement s\u2019impose. Il est plus prudent de miser sur plusieurs chevaux, d\u2019autant plus que son principal concurrent, BYD, passe \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de cette technologie sp\u00e9cifique.<\/p>\n

De son c\u00f4t\u00e9, Nio a consacr\u00e9 une d\u00e9cennie et des sommes colossales \u00e0 la construction d\u2019environ 4 000 stations d\u2019\u00e9change de batteries en Chine. Cette ann\u00e9e, au moins 1 000 stations suppl\u00e9mentaires sont pr\u00e9vues, l\u2019objectif \u00e9tant d\u2019atteindre les 10 000 d\u2019ici 2030.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La r\u00e9alit\u00e9 \u00e9conomique est impitoyable : ces stations n\u00e9cessitent d\u2019importants investissements et ne sont rentables que si un nombre suffisant de voitures y font escale. Pour Geely, la solution n\u2019est pas nouvelle. Sa propre entreprise de partage de voitures, Yiyi, a pein\u00e9 \u00e0 se d\u00e9velopper pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment pour cette raison. Et lorsqu\u2019il est possible d\u2019en racheter une d\u00e9j\u00e0 existante, il n\u2019y a aucun int\u00e9r\u00eat \u00e0 cr\u00e9er un r\u00e9seau concurrent.<\/p>\n

Expansion europ\u00e9enne suspendue<\/h4>\n

Geely pr\u00e9voit de commercialiser des voitures particuli\u00e8res et des v\u00e9hicules utilitaires \u00e9quip\u00e9s de batteries interchangeables pouvant \u00eatre recharg\u00e9es dans les stations Nio. Les deux constructeurs sont en pourparlers en vue d'adopter officiellement la technologie d'\u00e9change de batteries de Nio. La d\u00e9cision de doter les Volvo de cette solution reviendra probablement \u00e0 son nouveau PDG, Klaus Zellmer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

En Europe, le r\u00e9seau de stations est actuellement pr\u00e9sent dans les pays scandinaves, mais de mani\u00e8re peu convaincante. Il compte \u00e9galement des stations aux Pays-Bas et en Allemagne (il n\u2019y en a qu\u2019une seule en Belgique, destin\u00e9e aux clients de Nio en d\u00e9placement).<\/p>\n

En revanche, les ventes des autres mod\u00e8les de la gamme sont catastrophiques. Au premier semestre 2026, la marque n'a vendu que 45 voitures dans toute l'Europe. Il s'agissait principalement de Firefly.<\/p>\n

Ce volume de ventes est trop faible pour justifier l'investissement que repr\u00e9sente le changement de mod\u00e8le. L'arriv\u00e9e de Geely dans le secteur pourrait changer la donne. Les projets d'expansion en Europe ont \u00e9t\u00e9 suspendus.<\/p>\n

En collaboration avec CATL<\/h4>\n

En Chine, les ventes de Nio ont bondi de 581 TP3T pour atteindre 262 893 v\u00e9hicules au cours des huit premiers mois de l'ann\u00e9e, mais l'entreprise est retomb\u00e9e dans le rouge apr\u00e8s un seul trimestre b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiaire \u00e0 la fin de l'ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re. Sur son march\u00e9 national, Nio doit \u00e9galement faire face \u00e0 la concurrence de CATL, qui d\u00e9ploie actuellement son propre r\u00e9seau Choco-Swap en partenariat avec Changan et Sinopec.<\/p>\n
