Dans une interview accord\u00e9e \u00e0 France Inter, le PDG Fran\u00e7ois Provost a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que le groupe comptait investir plus de 10 milliards d'euros en France au cours des cinq prochaines ann\u00e9es, principalement dans la mobilit\u00e9 \u00e9lectrique et dans des voitures plus abordables.<\/p>\n<p data-pm-slice=\"1 1 []\">Renault avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 chiffr\u00e9 plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment cet engagement en juillet, lorsque M. Provost avait d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que le groupe investirait 13 milliards d'euros suppl\u00e9mentaires dans le cadre de la strat\u00e9gie \u00ab futuREady \u00bb, \u00e0 condition que les conditions n\u00e9cessaires soient r\u00e9unies.<\/p>\n<p>That follows roughly \u20ac13 billion already invested in the country since 2021, potentially bringing Renault's French industrial and technology investments to around \u20ac26 billion over a decade.<\/p>\n<p>Ces fonds visent \u00e0 renforcer ce que le groupe pr\u00e9sente de plus en plus comme un \u00e9cosyst\u00e8me de v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques fortement ancr\u00e9 au niveau local, couvrant les voitures, les moteurs \u00e9lectriques, les batteries, l'ing\u00e9nierie et les fournisseurs.<\/p>\n<p>Ce nouvel investissement n'est pas inconditionnel. Provost pr\u00e9voit que la production automobile fran\u00e7aise augmentera d'au moins 25% cette ann\u00e9e, pour passer d'environ 500 000 v\u00e9hicules en 2025.<\/p>\n<h4>\u00c9cosyst\u00e8me \u00e9lectrique fran\u00e7ais<\/h4>\n<p>Unlike an investment centered on a single new factory, Renault's strategy covers much of the EV value chain. Its ElectriCity cluster in northern France brings together Douai, Maubeuge, and Ruitz, while Cl\u00e9on produces electric motors. Battery production and development are also being increasingly localized in France.<\/p>\n<p>Depuis 2010, le groupe Renault a produit plus d'un million de v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques en France, dont environ 600 000 chez ElectriCity. D'ici 2030, le dernier programme d'investissement devrait permettre le lancement de neuf mod\u00e8les suppl\u00e9mentaires pour les marques du groupe Renault et de quatre pour les constructeurs partenaires.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>La Renault 5 est devenue l'un des symboles les plus marquants de cette strat\u00e9gie. Elle est produite \u00e0 Douai, aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de la M\u00e9gane E-Tech, de la Sc\u00e9nic E-Tech, de l'Alpine A290 et des mod\u00e8les \u00e9lectriques destin\u00e9s \u00e0 Nissan et Mitsubishi. Mais ils financent cette transition tout en r\u00e9duisant parall\u00e8lement une structure industrielle historique bien plus vaste et co\u00fbteuse.<\/p>\n<p>China is another important difference. Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche built substantial businesses and profits there. But now they face rapidly strengthening Chinese competitors in what was once one of their most important growth markets. Renault largely withdrew from China's mainstream passenger-car market years ago.<\/p>\n<p>What previously looked like a weakness now means Renault has considerably less exposure to the erosion of European brands' position in China. Its strategy is instead more concentrated on European B- and C-segment cars, including relatively affordable EVs such as the Renault 4 and 5.<\/p>\n<h4>Le Benelux prend de plus en plus d'importance<\/h4>\n<p>For Belgium and the Netherlands, Renault's French investment is far from an abstract industrial policy story. Cars built only a few hundred kilometers from Brussels, Antwerp, or Rotterdam enter markets where electric cars are already becoming mainstream rather than remaining a niche.<\/p>\n<p>Renault is not immune to the broader problems facing Europe's car industry. Chinese competition is intensifying, manufacturing costs remain high, and EV profitability is still under pressure.
